Steampunk fashion. Discussion, praise, sneering etc

SDC10771.JPG

I'm still not sure about this steampunk thing. Not even slightly.
Tbf that looks like a slightly dodgy version of "When We Are Married".

I rather like the steampunk look same as I rather like the goth look....just on me it would be a bit steamed mutton dressed as lamb

Perhaps a cue to start a new trend of "trouble at t' mill" flat caps and breeches and gate crash their parties. ;)

FWIW it depends on which characters the steampunk people are dressing as, and what era. Some will be more likely to go for fairly straight forward Victorian/Edwardian above the waist (plus a few chains, leather and/or brass trim), with breeches or knee to calf length skirts and something like biker boots - slightly more practical.

Thing is, it kind of IS about the money. This is all very opulent clothing. It's all the stuff in the antique shop that you can't afford. It's velvet and proper top hats and corsetry. And although I love it, there's a recession on. Fashion is usually influenced by the economic climate (even anti-fashion) and this does not sit well at the moment.
As with Greebo, I'd say a lot of people I've met on the scene, compared to some others, make their own stuff from scratch, so it's not necessarily expensive.
