Starship Troopers-on now

They can be redirected, I suppose - well, in the future they can, init.

Still reminds me of Saddam's military-industrial-scientific base that build all those kinds of WMD right under the UNSCOM inspector's noses.

I also once saw 30 seconds of 'GI Jane' and thought of the shower scene, there's so, so much really in Starship Troopers. It's almost like every American western cliche you've ever seen + 'Zulu'; 'aracnids Sir, fousands of em'.

Did you ever read Moon is a harsh mistress? stranger in a strange land? Starship Troopers?

How about his essays, letters and and other non fiction ephemera?

Cause I did. And guess what? you've got a facist masquerading as an all american rugged individualist.

I read all of them before you were born. And guess what? You're dead wrong. He's a dyed in the wool libertarian.

Don't give me the 'I'm older than you' shit, your advanced years do not confer automatic wisdom chum.

I've never read a series of essays so right wing from a science fiction author. I have a book up in the attic, Its a collection of Heinlens favorite short stories of his, intespersed with nasty little ranting essays. His piece on how we should all walk around naked at home was the absurd and his complete misanalysis of communism was the ridiculos. And damned if there wasn't much rugged individualist crap about avoiding all tax possible but donating anonymously to projects deemed worthy by your own all seeing eye:rolleyes:

Like what: Triumph of the Will? The architecture of Albert Speer?

How about the SS dagger?

It's quite strikingly beautiful, no?

The SS black and silver trimmed uniform was also very good looking. Evil ften gets cool designs. Looking stylish doesn't lessen the evil

Have to say i never took ST to be anything other than a satire on totalitarianism etc........

read Stranger In A Strange Land many many years ago............might give it a re-read, my copy must be nearly 30 yrs old !:o

I should point out that i'm not a huge fan of this film............though i can be a sucker for sci-fi......

:o

For some reason can't find SIASL in my bookcase :hmm::mad: got quite a bit of Heinlein too !

I'm not going to dig through moon is a harsh mistress and his letters and essays in order to provide you with examples of the innate facistic ideas of the man. He isn't satiring. He's deadly serious.

I recall his philosophy. You might want to reread it yourself, to disabuse yourself of the errors you made the first time through.
