Can you add an "It's all crap" option to the poll. I'd like to tick that as the other options don't include my opinion. I like to answer polls though.

Regardless of what one thinks of TNG (I myself think it was as enjoyable as any of the other series), you have to give it credit for managing to pull it off and become a success of its own. The prospects of a sequel series trying to fill the shoes of the much-loved OS, and featuring a cast of unknowns to boot, would have seemed grim to many. And the very first episode was indescribably bad :D

You should do Babylon 5 next.
I started on DISCO last night. I like it as a programme, and it’s got a very impressive look and aesthetic, but it doesn’t feel like Trek. I’m not sure what I feel about that.

The redesigned Klingons are great as a body of work, but I’m not sure if I accept it as Trek. It makes me wonder why the programme makers didn’t just invent a new universe.

That’s my initial reaction. (I’ve only seen the first of the modern films. I don’t know how or if DISCO relates to them).

I felt the same when I watched Season 1. It's such a modern TV show, structured in the same way as things like Breaking Bad, that it feels very un-Trek-like - there's no formula, no neatness, no one-dimensional characters. I think that's why the (sorry, but not really a spoiler) time-loop episode they did felt so right, because it was a callback to a simpler style and less ambitious storytelling objectives.
