Some bands get hyped and some don't. That doesn't just apply to what happens at the time, it also happens when people look back. The Small Faces were massively important to the development of British rock and roll, as well as being just bloody ace. The other band everyone seems to forget is Family. Without those two bands the history of British music through the sixties and seventies doesn't really make sense.

Agree with Bakunin, Since I been loving you is Pages best soloing anywhere on ANY Zep album

Stairway is utter pants, shoddy wafty fairy bollocks (Not hippy bollocks Mads, hippy=good, remember that ) with lyrics culled from some proto-hobbit never-land (actually, if you want true trippy-hippy bollocks try Caravan - Land of Grey and Pink - but that KNOWS its a laff, Stairway THINKS it means something) - it really is virtually THE worst song ever written

Music for me is enjoyment not some deep and meaningful love story or great political statement. You can't see any rhyme or reason to Stairway....do you need to, enjoy it for what it is. Fwiw Mrs Tag , her more "sensitive" listening would sooner take Zep than Metallica or heavier or some groups we have seen come to that. She would also take Zep over any prog I have.
Yes, I know she has very questionable taste in music.

I like Stairway to Heaven. I secretly like big epic songs. I know it gets old fast but it's enjoyable enough. However, I've no idea why the guitar solo at the end is supposed to be a classic though, it's quite ordinary IMO. I guess it's just the guitar solo people know by the "legendary" Jimmy Page.
