Stags rutting

Yup, the close date for shooting stags is past & they are now well into the period for shooting hinds but can't get started because of the late rut & it won't be long before the weather closes right-in, making it very difficult to continue/identify the right beasts.

Mind you, the way the Red Deer Comission have handled the cull in the last couple of years, there won't be that many folk losing sleep about them.

ok, ta. didn't know there were separate seasons for stags and hinds. any idea why this is?

Broadly, the idea is to have the stags thinned-out to the most viable animals before the rut starts.
