I think the St David's one will be more fun as it's unspoilt by hype and sponsorship and free from English guys drinking Guinness for one night of the year and farting it out round the venue!

they are always worth it for the much more numerous times when you get wound up and fly off the handle end up looking like a twat

A part of me feels slightly envious of the massive celebrations that surround St Patricks night, but I'm not sure if I'd be remotely comfortable if St David's Day came with all the the hideous hype, false sense of occasion, stupid hats, Guinness marketing and the rest of the awful corporate shite that it seems to attract (in the big cities, at least).

There's a much different socio-politco-religious history to the two days but the Guinness thing really irks me.You're better of without it; 17 March has just become a celebration of a shitty drink.
Btw, you never really hear of St Andrew's day event though. Seems Burns Night is bigger or at least down here.
