On the downside it's another evil £15 entry ground, on the upside it's an easy journey on Thameslink and a short stroll to the ground from the station.

Don't know if it's still the same but men used to be able to continue watching the game while having a slash in the outside toilets. All grounds should have this key facility.

It's only £6 for a day return from London Bridge to St Albans City with a railcard discount. (£9 without.) Half hourly service leaving at 05 & 35 past the hour, journey time 36 minutes. Also four direct trains an hour from Herne Hill (also calling at Loughborough Junction and Elephant & Castle), journey time 55 minutes.

The ground is very close to the railway line just north of the station on the east of the tracks, but you need to know where you're going otherwise you can end up walking around in circles.

Unless the ground entrances have changed since my last visit there are entrances in the north west and south east corners of the ground via Clarence Road and via Lemsford Road and footbridge over the railway into York Road respectively. It's the best local-ish beano in the division with many pubs in the city centre and beyond. The Mermaid in Hatfield Road (opposite side of the railway line to the ground) was always a favourite back in the Isthmian league days. Also St Albans Abbey and the Roman remains for those of a cultural bent. Map linked:

Thanks for posting - good reads.

    Was particularly tickled by this:

"Despite the potential for problems with such a large crowd present there were few reports of unsavoury incidents although one spectator, bedecked in the colours of Dulwich Hamlet, did dash onto the pitch and kick the ball away when a free kick was awarded against his side. The miscreant received no harsher treatment than being marched back to his place in the crowd by a policeman. There were three reports of pick-pocketing during the afternoon."

They said our days were numbered
And we haven’t got a pence
    But we’re winning titles

We didn't see any football in the second half because St Albans took as long as possible with goal kicks, free kicks and throw-ins. We should be given a refund!

Doesn’t excuse the lack of quality shown by Dulwich. Poor passing, no offside awareness, pretty shit all around. Too many points dropped against under performing opponents.

Was it even a penalty? Looked like a late dive off a lazy leg being stuck out nearby.

Think the penalty was spot on unfortunately, none of the players bar Preston argued to the ref, and even his was a half-hearted appeal at the decision

The last 20 mins of the first half we were unlucky not to draw level. Second half we didn’t trouble their keeper apart from Vose’s shot which went wide anyway. Far more frustrating than the Torquay result, as St Albans were nothing special and we came away with nothing. Cook was daft getting himself a post final whistle yellow for arguing with the ref. The last minute foul was definitely outside the area.

I think we wer decent in the first half. It was definitely a penalty, but other than that we ran rings around st Alban's. Second half was turgid.

I can't remember us having a worthwhile attack before we fell behind, which was the best part of 20 minutes. It was the next phase of the game up to half time when we really should have been able to get back into the game and made our hosts look very ordinary. Half time seemed to totally disrupt our momentum. Our passing was ponderous in the second half and we gave the ball away too easily too often. There was little excitement at either end and I can't recall either keeper being stretched beyond taking a few crosses.

Green had our best effort with a shot from the edge of the box that rebounded off the post, shortly after switching to his natural left side. Once again we started with Green and Wanadio on their "wrong" sides up front, then when Cook replaced Wanadio he initially played on the left with Green going back to the right.

Ultimately all that separated us from a top half side away from home was that penalty, but that just emphasises what a tight division this is and with the bottom three all getting something this defeat prolongs the uncertainty over securing our place for next season. We haven't won away for four months now, since Hungerford.

I feel like we need a lot more from the central midfielders than we're currently getting. No-one seems able to take control of the game, drive us forward and dictate play. We just look so ponderous and unimaginative when we get on the ball in the middle of the park.

Even a few driving runs through the centre from some of our midfielders. Dipo had very little support in the first half and did well on a few occasions to win the ball back deep from midfield but was then left with no support and to far from goal. In the second half Vose made one or two driving runs through the middle, one that almost led to a goal but we fell back into a similar routine of sideways passing with little urgency that the St Albans were all to happy to defend.

The pitch was a cabbage patch. One of the worst all season. St Albans could be a good team but they will never know on that surface...
