This attack is as likely to be related to the war in Sri Lanka as with the Mumbai attacks.
Galling business all round.![]()
Some in international quarters have suggested that Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers separatist group could possibly be involved in the attack.
The Tigers have been conducting an insurgency in the northern parts of Sri Lanka since the mid-1980s and are currently losing ground to the Sri Lankan army.
In recent weeks, the Tigers have seen key towns fall to the military, prompting many to speculate that it is the beginning of the end of their insurgency.
But could the Sri Lankan rebel group make a desperate move like this one to stage a comeback?
Analysts say they are not known to have operated in Pakistan in the past, and do not have the kind of logistics and network in the region that they would require to stage an attack of this nature.
Besides, they are unlikely to blow up the entire Sri Lanka team - as the attackers tried to do by lobbing grenades under their bus - because it also includes ethnic Tamils.
Who is at war? And with whom? They're definitely in a state of war, they've now said, according to Sky.

What? Who? SL vs Pakistan
Please not India vs Pakistan. That would just be too much.

It cant be SL. if it's the Tamils then they hardly represent the SL government, and why would SL attack it's own in Pakistan?
It must be India....
(it's prob Sky being cunts again...If true)
i think with "terrorists"

I doubt it, they regularly rattle sabres at each other.
Saying that they may well go to war again one day with potentially catastrophic consequences.
both nuclear powers, let's not forget. A war between them could go to unthinkable lengths.

Yup, approach and attack from four different directions, disperse into different directions...I'm just wondering because it seems to be a very similar modus operandi ...
Is this likely to be related to the Mumbai attacks - ie with the same people behind it?

Sky was speculate about it being Pakistanis carrying out the attack, was that they all got away. There is camera footage of police and terrorists exchanging gunfire, how do you get away after that?
Tamils surely would have gone for a suicide spectacular.

Whatever their allegiance I dont think we have to be wary of calling them 'terrorists.'Did anyone claim responsibility for the Mumbai attacks in the end - or indeed for this latest attack? I remember that all the other "established" Islamist groups denied involvement with it.
very very frighening stuff, these latest "terrorists" if thats really what they are, nobody seems to know who they are or what they want at all ...
they also don't seem like the usual al-qaeda "sleeper cell" type terrorists in that these guys seem to hve everything planned out, seem very highly trained/coordinated (and be able to get away very quickly/strike again rather than just blow themselves up like so much cannon fodder) in a way that say the 7/7 bombers were't ...
Fucked up.
at least thats what i'd like to think anyway.
I dont think that theory is outlandish at all.
Organised, disciplined troops carry out audacious attack, your theory sounds totally plausible to me. It would explain how they melted away afterwards.
However to counter that- how come the grenades thrown under the bus didnt go off? Plus rpg's also narrowly missed the bus and from such close quarters that suggests a major fuck up/ amateurs.
The only dead were Pakistanis.

After some procrastination, the Pakistani authorities also endorsed the Indian claim in relation to the Mumbai attacks, saying at least nine men affiliated with LeT had sailed out from its southern port city, Karachi, to attack the Indian financial hub.
It has arrested several top LeT leaders in connection with that attack.
Could it be, then, that the LeT has turned back on Pakistan to even scores?
LeT is one of a number of militant groups that are believed to have been raised, trained and funded by the Pakistani security apparatus to fight Indian troops in the disputed region of Kashmir.
