Squalid little lie by SWP councillor

That story is from 3 months ago and concerns Rees being removed from being the SWP leadership of the Left List/Left Alternative - not the current one about Rees being effectively removed from the SWP CC.

Christ what a story. German too? And to think of the number of times many of us fellow travellers laughed at the 'alleged' splits in the cc.

It seems she was absent for the vote - Bambers and Harman voting against. That's just going by internet stuff though (SUN etc). I think her postion is untenable on a number of levels if this is the case.

Bambi and Harman voted against? There was a day when those two and Rees between them could carry most any vote. So the Prof and Harman don't see eye to eye on this?! That's enough of a split in itself.

The cynic in me wonders whether or not the CC chose a meeting for this vote when they knew German wouldn't be there, just to stack the deck that little bit further.

Im still confused, but no matter, generally is me state of being!
:)
Nevertheless i was emphasising poorly the lack of any real interest in the swoppys activities these days. Probably a whole new thread in itself perhaps..
maybe not, who really cares?

IIRC, the Swappies used to be quite active on the web at one time and that kind of activity seems to have been pulled up short for some reason. If Swappies were still as present on bulletin boards as they used to be then I'm sure there'd be a lot more debate around this issue, and public debate at that.

As it is, there are seemingly very few (or at least a lot fewer) Swappies still into debating politics on the web and I don't recall having seen Party Notes leaked nearly as often as it used to be.

The internet rumour is that Bambery and Nineham voted against, which is rather less dramatic. Nineham obviously doesn't have anything like the sway that Harman has. They were also the two who voted with German and Rees when the CC yanked Rees from the Left Alternative leadership and effectively decided to mothball it.

I very much doubt if Rees has enough of a personal base to actually fight back.

Leaves the prof with egg on his scholarly face though - Respect an exemplary new formation on the European left according to his many musings. Was this line-towing by a democratic centralist who thought it was a shit idea from the beginning? Or is the anti-Rees vote ex post facto scapegoating?

Either way, Callinicos doesn't smell of roses.

According to SUN, it was bambery and nineham voting against. Harman hates rees so I think that is unlikely.
