Spurs - Weedy Pointless Sell Outs

I like Tottenham at the moment because they took Routledge off us.

Dont you like Routledge then, I thought he was one of yor best'uns?

I reckon your gutted really, hes not a bad player

He's vastly over-rated. He has skill but he never plays with it. He'll do some fancy turn and then go back to do another one. His crossing is poor, which isn't what you wanna hear about a winger.

He might turn out to be a great player, and he has the potential but he was no good for us last year, despite what the papers seemed to think.

the year ends, you'll win fuck all as usual, history tells us this is true

Yep, but we don't have illusions of grandeur.

Won't hear us crying on 6-0-6

We know we're never going to win anything, we don't need to cry about it, we just enjoy it

Funny that, I thought the pappers were always right, I mean some of them even implied AJ was a diver!!!!

Well it is funny yep, because I've seen Routledge since he was playing in our youth team and he's shown promise but no end product, 3/4 years on.

I ain't going to get into an argument with you about AJ or Palace or Spurs mate. I'm saying I'm glad we got a fair amount of money for Routledge which can be put to use rebuilding our team to try and come back up.

An Eagles season ticket holding friend of mine rates him, he was gutted

I dont know about him, I saw him play against Chelsea for your lot in a pre season last year but thats about it, he looked ok, lets see how he gets on

good luck with your battle to return, hopefully see you season after

It's split at Palace. I know people who love him, and people who are glad to see him go. I'm one of the non-fans of his but there we go.

And cheers, it'll be a tough season this year, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'd much rather be a Spurs fan at the moment than a blubbering Geordie also ran. We're a much brighter prospect than yous
Ditto. I like to think Steven Carr is rouing his "move to a better club" this time last year.

Can Routledge tuck in a bit to allow the overlap? Because Stephen Kelly has looked dead good at doing that and we ain't that strong in attacking midfield anyway. If Routledge needs a bit of discipline I hope Jol can educate him thus.

I agree che$ki need investigating but its upto the FA not Spurs isnt it? We're a football club not a gouverning body.
yes, agreed, but the game's governing body are a bunch of utterly uselesss, spineless numpties who, in an ideal world, would not be left in sole charge of anything more taxing than a burger van. so, by default, the clubs HAVE to act, cos no-one else will!

Bit of a catch 22 though, I agree the "CLUBS" need to act "TOGETHER" which would require some kind of joint of representative unit being formed.........like the FA??

Why the hell did we try to buy Stuart Downing? He's a great player and will get better but we've already got two good left wingers in Andy Reid and Reto Zeigler (who I want to see play a lot more).

umm...the FA represent every part of football, from ManUre to village casuals FC, which is why the amateur, archaic ethos still pervades the FA far too much for the needs of the top 40-odd pro clubs. That's why we need a separation of organisations.

who you gonna call?

He's not quite down to the tepid scummy depths of Campbell-end in my books, mainly because he didn't deliberately put off the contract talks with half-arsed bullshit waiting for Bosman (which Arnesen wouldn't come under anyway) and also that Chelski are slightly (only slightly) higher in my books than the Arse.

I think more in terms of Chelski being Blair and the Arse being Bush. Both skin-crawlingly pathetic wankstains but I'm glad I live in Britain rather than the States.

Did you read the rumour about Javier Saviola? Possible freebie, although I imagine he'd want £30billion a week in wages. Plus is he too similar to Jermaine? Plus there's the horrible fact that we ain't in Europe.

Oi Oi ! hello.

Was interested in the political stuff and then saw this, so I'd thought I'd commiserate with a fellow Spur.

God knows why but I've got a season ticket in the Lower East, a mere £725 for the coming shambles.

Actually it might not be that bad this year. I fancy 6th or 7th - am I off my rocker ?

Cheers.

I'd have been more optimistic with Frank (in terms of stability) but then the real improvement was when Jol took over the team... so that can carry on I suppose...

We have a young squad who are now one year older - players who joined from the Championship should be better adjusted to the Prem. We've added a couple of experienced internationals and fleshed the squad out....

But the real factor is how well our rivals are doing... I think Middlesborough will be better with Yakubu. Liverpool should be a lot more consistant. Everton have strengthened their squad. Villa have signed some more of those journeymen who can come good for a season. Parker could be a major player for Newcastle. Man City can be pleased with how Pearce did last season.

So in that context I'm less optimistic. I don't think we've really put ourselves clearly out ahead of any them. Maybe a couple of major signings would rectify that... but I'm sure what the intentions are on that.... Jol said we'd make some big signings and we definetly have the money but like Stavros said the lack of Euro football is a hindrance.

this season as every season Im waiting to see how they get on......still im more otimistic than for a good long time but like Stav I dont see us being infront of al the other mid table lot really

fingers crossed though

Hello chaps.

I certainly understand the fatalism, if that’s what it is; there’s little to suggest our relative ‘improvement’ will be any greater than any other of our upper-mediocrity counterparts.

Yet . . . yet . . . I feel almost obligated to be irrationally upbeat. It sort of becomes ingrained.

While I still have – unfashionable, I think – doubts about Jol, I do think the squad itself is around ‘top 6’, and the defensive squad at least top 6.

But Jol has to take the lessons from his learning curve and develop systems of play far beyond hoofing the ball up to Kanoute’s chest; the midfield and forwards lost any semblance of ‘team work’ in the closing matches of last season, and Defoe in partic seemed a lost soul.

Even without further additions, I do think this squad is good enough to get us Europe, but Jol . . . we’ll see.

I see the Peace Cup kicks off this week. Spurs will be live on Eurosport, so I'm told.

Middlesborough will definitly be better with Yakubu and Hasselbaink up front, We should be more consistent and we might even have a full squad to choose from + some good new players, Everton haven't strengthened and will be playing a lot more matches this season, Newcastle will only go one way under souness, Man City, if they can hang on to SWP will get into Uefa at least.

I was told - take with a pinch - that the full games are repeated at around 7.00pm, with highlights at around 11.30pm.

But check Europsport, if I were you.

My wife's a Spurs supporter so despite me being Chlesea we make a point of catching Spurs on the foreign cannels or PVP.On occassions Spurs looked very fluent last season but, and this is a but, they need to make that step up this season into either winning something or European qualification. I would take Spurs to finish above Newcastle and Villa this season but it will be close between them and Boro.

Liverpool could push Man Utd for third place and it will be interesting to see if Everton and Bolton can consolidate. The UEFA places below fourt spot are extremely competitive.

I want to see the youngsters used as regulars, particularly Reto Zeigler and Stephen Kelly who both looked ace last season. Zeigler has Reid to compete against, although Reid could go over to the right as he does for Ireland, or in the middle in front of Carrick.

I looked up our odds to actually win the league, eternal optimist that I am, and we're actually fifth faves behind Chelski (odds-on already), the Arse, ManUre and the red Scousers. Some way behind them in the odds though, but I'd like to think Euros is very acheivable. A good cup run would be proper Spurs stuff too.

I see Atouba's gone to Hamburg subject to odds and sods . . . misunderstood genius, that lad . . .

Yep, we have an opportunity to take advantage of Newcastle's implosion. But then so do half a dozen others, I suppose.

I sometimes think those betting odds reflect the optimism of the punting fans rather than anything the bookies themselbes think.
