Ok this is how i saw it.

1: Funky ken. Your best track to date mate. I cant fault it on any level, especially the production. Easily good enough to be put out. Dont what else to say. 10/10.

:) nice one cheers DS

blimey. the standard's pretty bloody high, isn't it? really tough to pick a top 3, but i'll have to go with these...

3. BOING - Box Full Of Spanners
2. FUNKY KEN - Princess Zakina D&B Remix
1. CHOOCH - S-Bahn

if anyone fancies doing a less girly remix of 'sometimes', i'm happy to fire the acapella over t'internet.

Gwaan then, can I?

How about a 'Remix Each Others Tracks' comptetion? Would be interesting to hear other people's takes on your music.

Would you have to give all the separate elements?

I guess you wouldnt necessarily have to, you could just sample the barer parts of the song and filter and eq. But if you separate individual tracks out (as in tracks before the mixer/effects) then you could do more.

I guess everybody is using different software and/or using a hardware multitrack recorders so this could be hard.

But I think it could be fun.

I think I could fuck up some of the dance nonsence I have been hearing on this thread. Maybe I am too old.

i only know a teeny bit of korean, so i can't watch the films without subtitles....

there are a shitload of good korean films tho, i should make more effort....

of course :)

anyone who wans a stab at 'sometimes' PM me a postal address for a CD of the parts. or, if you prefer, give me an email address to send just the acapella as an mp3.

i love doing remixes too so if anyone wants their own track twisted up, get in touch... to get a decent remix back, ideally you need to provide vox/drums/bass/other stuff as seperate files. i've done remixes on complete tracks before but it's pretty hard to do anything too creative - and if you're not going to rip it to shreds what's the point of remixing? ;)

Most DVDs have english subs. Kim ki duk films barely have any dialogue.

I'm always up for remixing, particularly girly things- don't get a chance to play with vocals often in the bedroom world.

You don't play with girls in the bedroom?

not as hard as you'd think. manually exporting each track (or group of tracks) eg 'drums' to a single mono or stereo wav file is possible from most recorders and software sequencers. pretty much all of them can import wav files.

i normally set the export start and end point at the start and end of the song, export the drums, then the bass, then the vox, then the keys&fx.

the result is a bunch of wav files - all the same length. if you then drop them into any multitrack app and line up the starts, the original song plays back but in a very hackable multi-track format.

japan is about 5 times more expensive than korea, it's even more expensive than england......
Bollocks is it. London is much more expencive than Tokyo. The only things that are more expencive are DVDs. Boose is about half price and the food is super fucking cheap as is rent.

On the tip of remixing each others tunes, an idea I had was that the winner has to just choose a title for the next months competition and we could interpret that title how we like.

I had a title for a track, but as my setup is down, I have one eye at the moment and the title is *much* more suited to an Atomic Suplex track does anyone want to write a track called

"All Your Base Belong To Us"

Just an idea...

Er I think someone has already done that, don't you mean 'all your base are belong to us'?

What you say?

it's wierd cos this is the thing that scares me about going back to england, when i stayed in fukoka for the weekend, everything was so expensive to me. 5000 yen for a capsule, 5000 for a beer and a steak, 2000 for some food and a drink in a bar, but that is from a korean perspective, you get a bottle of soju for the same price as a cup of sake from the family mart here
