    Very interesting ... I like the idea that an aristocrat was paying someone to do it.

    People never swoon and lose their senses these days.

    There's a drum n bass act with the name Spring Heel Jack ... I always found it unusual.... Glad to know where they got it from now.

    I wonder if Keith Richards Jumping Jack Flash is a misremembering of it. It does fit, and he grew up in a London old enough to pass down such tales (and change the name over time)

    I think Spring heeled Jack appears in a Christopher Fowler novel .
