Spinach and potatoes

Back for more silly questions...

The courgettes seem to be growing pretty fast, should I split them up sooner rather than later? Or am I worrying too much, and should I just be patient and wait for them to get taller? (sill angle to take the photo from... they're not very tall, just wide)

I'll probably only keep two , so anyone fancy a courgette plant?

Question 2:
The more mature spinach plant looks like it's going to flower  is this a bad thing? Do I need to do anything to stop it?

Think I've got everything else under control :D broccoli is doing good - no sprouts yet; and potatoes look ok - though still not sure when to actually check for potatoes :o

they will grow quite fast, you need to split them when they ae strong enough to withstand a bit of a mauling in the processs, but before their roots interwtine too much that you damage them too much splitting them. they are probably ready to go now

it's a bit hard to tell from the picture. courgettes have both male and female flowers. only the female ones become courgettes. the male flowers just have stalks. you can see the baby courgettes beginning to develop where the stalk would be for the female ones, with the flower on top.

Cheers Spark... that's good news - even if it's not courgettes, means it's healthy and something is growing :)

i have some male flowers on mine already and am starting to get female ones forming. I think that if they're not fed and watered enough you can end up with just male ones, so give them lots to drink to make sure you get courgettes. (alternatively you can eat the male flowers anyway, but you need to keep them if there are female ones to fertilize them)
