Was walking past Spillers Records this evening and noticed somebody was doing a live gig - it was Gruff Rhys out of the Super Furry Animals. How marvellous!
He played an acoustic version of a SFA song off the first album; couple of Welsh-language tunes; and Cycle of Violence and Gyrru Gyyru Gyrru off his latest solo album Candylion (which incidentally is top quality and better than anything he's done with the SFA IMO).
He said it was the first time he'd ever been in the back of Spillers and that there was a swimming pool there, a cafeteria and a satellite tracking system which spied on rival record shops throughout the world! It was all very jolly and it was free of course.
And there are greedy people out there who want to put a stop to all this loveliness. Wankers.
