Any good? Worth a download?
Her sales have apparently been totally unaffected by winning the mercury, which is unusual. Is this because she's actually quite shit?
Have you got a link to this???

Debelle sales don't ring
Speech Debelle's victory at the Mercury Prize has had little effect on her album Speech Therapy's sales.
On Wednesday, the day after the event was shown live on BBC2, her album sold an extra 970 copies - only enough to reach No 83 in the midweek chart.
Florence And The Machine, La Roux and Friendly Fires' sales have all dropped by 20% this week, with Bat For Lashes the highest climber, up 55 to No 54.

Who said anything about 'buying'?
er, haven't you kind of answered your own question there?
She was probably seen as the token "urban music" winner every award usually featuring rock or alternative-ish music has. Besides, it would be more interesting to see if the leecher to seed ratio on Piratebay or what.cd increased the day after.
I found her music to be completely bland (even if it's not my cup of tea) and while she surely seems a lovely person instead of the posing "indie" wankers that often feature there, it's the music that should be judged.

I watched her win the prize and what made my heart warm was not her win, but the joy on the Big Dada staff who couldnt belive they had won. Good on them - they work hard pushing underground music and they deserve a pat on the back. I dont know anyone at Big Dada, but you can tell the kind of bunch they are by the music they release, so good luck to them. I chalked it up as one for us, even though I thought Speech wasnt all that.
Just read that Speech has decided to dump Big Dada because she felt she didnt sell enough records! Ha ha ha - total obscurity beckons, unless someone at whats left of the majors decides to reinvent her doing a duet with robbie williams. At least Big Dada gave her the time of day. Id say something a bit nastier about Speech, but shes young and naive, so i'll leave it. Anyway, Big Dada are probably best rid of her.

The Big Dada boys are nice, some of the Ninja Tune's aint. And Big Dada have given the time of day to some utter shite too.

Speech Debelle was reportedly booed by fans of Take That last night after she attempted to rap the band's 1993 hit 'Pray'.
The record lable thing is weird...she claims they didn't have enough copies in stores to take advantage of her winning. Er....ever heard of iTunes? She increasingly cvomes across as a total arse. Don't like Take That? Don't whore yourself out at the launch of a branded karaoke game then.
