They fed us this regularly at school. I am sure people are getting colon cancer as a result.

It’ll be the new asbestos scandal in ten years time, mark my words.

When I was a kid we were fed on whatever my Ma got on a job lot at the market. One summer it was several boxes of Plumrose Chopped Pork and Ham that we used up on a camping holiday. At every stop in France (en route to my maternal grandmother’s place in Germany) we’d pitch the tent while my Ma would make chips and fried spam - still love it today :)

Chippy Spam fritters are horrible, far too greasy and oil sodden.
Homemade ones a lovely, crispy and a treat for the taste buds....I mix curry powder into the batter mix for that certain je ne said quoi..... wonderful :)

    I like SPAM :)

It is not a classy 'cut' of meat but still a decent enough meal. I usually dice it up and grill/shallow fry with some potatoes and onions or whatever needs using up.

Fritters are a bit soggy/greasy tbf but grilled slices of SPAM are good for you eating.

Spam looks a bit rank but someone once gave me a tin of ham that they'd won in a raffle and didn't want. It was quite nice in a weird way if a bit salty.

I used to get fed spam fritters regularly when I was I kid

I say regularly, but I don't actually recall it being on our weekly menu - my parents learned to cook when rationing was still a thing, so the weekly menu happened because it was easy to budget for (my parents grew up with budgeting around rations and money, then it was just money and because they were quite poor it didn't make a huge amount of difference from when rations were involved!).

So I think spam fritters may have been a once in a while treat.
