Spain v France

I've gone off Thierry Henri after he tried to con the ref into sending off the defender.

What a biased opinion, like the spanish didn't do it to Viera not what? 5 mins before that, exactly the same thing?

Not to mention the dive at the corner flag trying to get a foul laying on the floor like he had been pole axed and when you checked the replay no one touched him.

Well if the underdogs can win this match with such a vast improvement over their previous shite form in this contest, maybe there's hope for a similar transformation for a certain other team on Saturday ... :D

Feel sorry for Spain though :(

What a load of fucking bollocks.

Wrong tactics at the back from the fucking start from Aragon-arse. Where was the fucking need to play the offside trap, and so far forward as well?

We've lost against a team that is worse than us. Once again, we lose our fucking bottle.

Until now I had thought Henry was not only a superb player but also an honest one.

I've just discovered that he's in fact a cheating cunt

Style of the game he is playing in, is he supposed to play the honest one while the other team is diving on the floor grabbing their face?

Doing to them what they did to France and good job. They did it all game, played Spain's own game against them and Spain couldn't handle it.

Yep, I was thinking (hoping) the same. :)

Yes, Zidane is class, and from the POV of the Aragones/Henry aspect, no bad thing that France won ....

But I've been impressed by the Spanish over this tournament and had hoped they'd progress further ...

Agreed, that offside trap business was suicidal ...

I really wanted France to win this. They were robbed with the penalty, and fought back. Aragones, I hate the man with a passion. Fancy having words with Viera and then seeing France inspired.

Ha fuck you all, that was marvellous, well done France! But they'd better not get too complacent with Brazil next week.....

Complacent or not, Brazil will turn it up a bit and France'll get tonked (IMO).

You must have been watching a different game to me.

A lot of players dive (regrettably). No player tonight other than Henry has tried to have another player sent off by faking a fucking elbowing to the face.

I just didn't think Henry was that kind of player. Very dissapointed- not to mentioned pissed off.

You're probably right, but I think France have excorcised (?) 2002 now.

Well yeah but I thought France would lose this game and they scored, scored, scored....! I know it's unlikely, what with Brazil being the best team in the world but it would be a nice surprise if they won :)

Last of the second round games is over!!

And it weren't a bad game to end the round on.

Onwards to the quarter finals, and beyoooond!!

It was a penalty mate. A very stupid one to give for sure, but one of the clearest penalties you will ever see.

However I'll happily admit Spain has produced little more at all and France did more to win.

To be fair tho, you never looked like scoring, other then the penalty you really didn't get many chances and most of the shots on goals were not very good, a few corners and set pieces but you didn't look like you were going to score then either.

Saying you were the better team, well that just isn't right tonight, France out played you, they looked like the team that was going to score, as one of the commentators just said they smothered spain and didn't let them play their game.

Granted I think generally you are the better but as you tactics were all wrong and France were the better team on the night.

Now that might seem obvious since they won, but that is often not the case, often times the worst team wins despite being rubbish.

I think that should have been ruled offside. I think the interpretation of that rule is silly.

Savage Henry just sent me a pm called Spain v France.

I'm not going to open it. I think he's trying to tell me the final score....

Bastard!

Penalty was a penalty - foot intentionally on the achilles, in the area, while the traget is in control of the ball = penalty kick.

If/When Torres comes to the Premiership he'd better learn how to stay on his feet because he's going to get a shoeing off every bottom half defender otherwise :D

You mean the Zidane goal was off?

Maybe, I'm not very good at assessing offside, and I only saw one of the replays properly.

But France would've won anyway ...

No I think he means the second goal by Ribery, where Henry was about a mile off side but not interfering with play.

I am not really seen the Zidane goal that much either but it did look offside from what i saw, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Yeah fair enough Fong, I'm happy to admit France were the better team on the night. It pisses me off though that Spain are capable of so much more, and that (I believe) on their best form they would have walked over the best effort France could put.

But... fair game to the French manager. He got the tactics right and Spain were never allowed to play their game.
