Hi: First, when it is an established fact that several widely circulated pics were doctored, everything else then becomes cuspect. UN data is meaningless. If you have the patience and the inclination I could provide you with UN date for several incidents, from several UN sources, none of which mesh even remotely.
UN data ALWAYS requires corroboration. A great part of the problem is the amployment of sectarian organisations and/or individuals in data collection and vetting.
Did children die? Yes, both there AND in Israel. Did more die in Lebanon? ABSOLUTELY and that is a igven when one understands the nature of Assymetrical Warfare. I am a father myself, I do not dismiss such things out of hand. Yet I also have close experience in conflict in general and this one in particular. There is a great reason why Nasrallah chooses to ensconce himself and his hierarchy in the city of Beirurt. It is Win-Win for them.
Should we strike, and that we will strike is always understood, we WILL incurr more tham moderate Collateral Damage. This in turn widens Hezbollah's recruiting poll more than anything else. We are much more numerous, much better trained, and better equipped than they could ever be and so it will never be a victory ofr them along conventional means. Only be adding that human elememnt, the one we try and negate, can Hezbollah gain the upper hand.
A group illegal by US,UN, and Lebanese LAws is operating withimpunity right under the noses of the impotent UNIFIL Force and noone says a word. A ridiculous Report is issued 3 weeks ago claiming that the only armed incidence in all of S. Lebanon was a single man with a single hinting rifle obviously hunting. Hunting what? Dogs? Then less thasn weel later Hezbollah shoots down a Lebanese Military gunship!
This is the world Israel lives in. Were it to actually destroy entire neighbourhoods then PERHAPS it could begin to make porogress in this war againstIslamo-Fascism but this is not a political or legal responsibility.
On "Civilian Infrastructure" as a separate subject, War 101 , plain and simple. Beofre commiting to an incursion you have to do your utmost to remove every single piece, every last shred of said infrastructure before sending a single troop over the line. People outside of the military world do not understand that. Why destroy airports? Airports allow planes. Planes allow vital non-humanitarian supplies , most importantly of which would be arms.
Why telecom systems? Yhey are used to move Intel in prime-time and we cannot allow that by any means.
Why hiways and bridges. Two fold reason: I) We do not want the opposition to be able to turn tail, Rule One is to control your theater as much as possible. Bring him to you, not the converse. II) You do not want non-combatants flooding the road as Aerial ops are taking place and our tropps are on the move. Inordinate amounts of non-combatants will suffer if so...
On and on and on. People just do not get it.
