Spaced series 1 starts on Dave at 10pm

Yeah the most accurate depiction of being on pills ever without ever mentioning the fact they're on pills. That one is my favourite too or the one with the weed/oregano and the scally boys.

It's probably my favourtie sitcome ever actually.

These are the two best episodes. Fact.

Those two are definitely the best two. Indeed I think they won their respective series 1 best episode poll and series 2 best episode poll on here a few years ago. By a landslide.

My guess would be they cut out some of the drug taking (ie rolling a fat one) its placed pretty subtly most times i failed to notice it the fist run through even when skinning up myself, watched the second series last week must break the legs of the mate who has failed to return the first series to me for over a year

I love the bit where Daisy comes home and goes you're up early, he says nah haven't been to bed yet, bought some cheap speed off some scottish bloke in the pub, and she goes Tim! That's so tacky!

:D

Yeah, we would have said no but we were afraid they'd beat us to death.

Where's Mike?

Uhdunno

*cut to mike pretending to ride a motorbike round and round a tree*

:D

I've never quite got the insatiable love U75 gives to Spaced. I watched it and thought it was OK, but never the work of genius it frequently gets acclaimed as on here. In terms of sitcoms of the last ten years, it seems a long way behind Peep Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Thick Of It.

re-watched both series the other day. Tis really good, but in a chuckle and grin a lot way, rather than a laugh uncontrollably way.

Tim: Where are you?
Mike: Uh, Sheffield.
Tim: What are you doing in Sheffield?
Mike: I fell asleep on the tube.
Tim: The tube doesn't go to Sheffield, Mike.
Mike: Yeah, I know, I, uh, must have changed at Kings Cross.

:D

The whole programme just sums up the sort of genre of people I know in London

Ooh it's much better than Peep show. Compared with Curb though, now that is a toughie.

I have to be honest here, when it was originally on it was when I was caning it a bit too much, and it was a bit too close to home for me to enjoy it even though I knew it was really good, I only got into it properly in about 2004-2005 when I was in China and downloaded it...

Daisy "Tim what did you want to be when you grew up?"

Tim "I wanted to be Monkey"

Daisy "What you wanted to be a Monkey"?

Tim "No I wanted to be Monkey"

Cue Tims Monkey Magic Impression.

I think it pwns Curb, as it's very scarily close to the life I have led :D

Me too.

I can completely identify with the characters, the - less far-fetched - scenarios and the general lifestyle.

Curb Your Enthusiasm leaves me utterly cold and nonplussed.

I've never agreed that spaced is the greatest sitcom ever made, but fuck me, it hit me in balls. I was a film, comic, PS2, who got mangled on dodgy drugs, and got obsessed with cultural references.

I can remember beig incredibly hungover trying to avoid the bloody mary that was being impressed upon me and showing the rave episode to a good friend of mine who had being living in Eastern Europe for 3 years. And the she thought it was the shit.

For a certain generation at a certain point the "lets weave" scene was just the funniest as fuck thing ever.

Whenever I see it mentioned in the press, it's always described as "a cult hit". I sometimes get the feeling the whole membership of that cult are on these boards.

I love it, the comics/comic shop/publisher thing, the drugs, the North London living, the sci fi, the biker raver dude (I had a mate who spoke exactly like him 'oi oi!'), the 'friendship', the weirdo drunken landlady, the best mate who love the military (a long time best mate of mine was a carbon copy of Mike). It's just fucking great, and so parts of my life from my teenage and early adult years represented brilliantly.

No, I think it holds up pretty well, first series anyway.

I never saw it when it first came out and all my friends said "that's so you, you really need to watch it". That and Black Books. So I'm apparently a sarcastic alcoholic who has comedically dysfunctional unconsummated sexual tension relationships. Cheers.
