Souness sacked!

Current odds offered by Ladbrokes:

BBC said:
Sam Allardyce 5/4
Paul Jewell 6/1
Steve Bruce, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Mark Hughes 7/1
Alan Curbishley 8/1
Alan Shearer 10/1
Stuart Pearce, Paul Le Guen 14/1
David Moyes, Kevin Keegan, Louis van Gaal 20/1
David O'Leary 25/1
Kenny Dalglish 33/1
Peter Reid 50/1
Paul Gascoigne 500/1

To be honset I really doubt we'll get any of the first few on there, we really don't have much to offer at the moment :(

I have a soft spot for Newcastle; I hope that their fortunes change. But making Shearer a manager instantly would be a mistake.

everyone has a soft spot for newcastle.....

shearer is the assistant coach atm but he doesn't have the badges to take the job yet, they probly want him to stay with the club till the next manager goes.....

gazza's gotta be worth a punt :D

Depends if he realy loves NUFC as much as he says and realises it needs someone with a track record!

My Geordie mate at work (St James season ticket holder, travels up for almost every hiome match, a madly loyalist exile then!) was holding out against Souness's sacking until a few weeks ago (partly on the grounds of opposing irrational overhasty reactions  )

But he's celebrating now all right.

I know the feeling. When he eventually left Liverpool, I felt exactly the same. The man's a twat for sure.

Is Sam Allardyce now bookies favourite for both the Newcastle and England job?

I don't mind the bloke at all but is that really the best we've got

Well he's finally gone, typical classy bit of timing by the clever chaps who own the club. I fail to see the theory in giving him shitloads of money only to get rid part way through the season. I'd have though sacking Titus Bramble would have been more effective.

Who's next for the merry go round? Can't se big Sam touching it with a 50ft barge pole. It'll probably be cuntface O'Leary, Shepherd & him deserve each other.

I just think Souness was a symptom, and the provincial, incompetent Board (the Shepherd's and Halls) - together with medling Shearer - are the disease.

Club won't go anywhere substantial unless the maj shareholding is sold into more able hands.

Absolutely. Which is why Newcastle, like Portsmouth and Southampton before them deserve to go down and down until they disappear without trace. Whether they will or not is another matter.

Quite agree with that and some of the other comments about Sourness getting the P45 and taxi fare from fat Freddie. He was a bit unfortunate with injuries, but his acquistions i.e. Boumsong to name one has been very questionable. Speaking of which the Newcastle board has got a lot of questions and explaining to do imvho!

I don't think that Big Sam, O'Neill or Paul Le Guen wouldn't be interested in the vacancy for the gaffer's job, for 3 reasons i.e the board, Freddie and of course Mr Shearer (is there a player in footie who's got way to much influence and interfering in team and club matters). But you never know in football these days!

Hooray!

I'm not pretending that we are going to perform miracles all of a sudden, but under Sourpuss we had no cohesion, game-plan or team spirit. Let's hope those days are gone!

Why he insited on picking Boumsong is quite beyond me. We could have picked a couple of kids from the reserves or the academy to do a better job! Peter Ramage is a case in point. He's being doing an excellent job in the absence of Carr, but he was woefully exposed last night, which Citeh (understandably) exploited.

And wtf are Babayaro and Luque supposed to be doing? Sweet FA it appaears!

So, Alan Shearer and Glenn Roeder - a winning combination?

Well they are this afternoon at least, and Shearer finally has that record in the bag :D Roll on the rest of the season

i am sitting here waiting for the download to appear, i have a good feeling about the rest of the season :D

It was only a matter of time from the day Souness took the job. He's a muppet but the NFC board should shoot themselves for employing him. What a bunch of dumbass twats. Every football fan in the country knew Souness would be a disaster, so why not them? And then it proved true. But I for one am not saying 'I told you so' because it was OBVIOUS this was going to happen, I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Shearer can't have helped though. I don't see why any manager would come to Newcastle with him breathing down their necks.

I do hope so. It was a different team I saw today. Lets keep it up

Edit to add, Alan will probably be gone at the end of the season
