Ok, download and install the client (program) from here, it's just the number (on this date) '152' hyperlinked straight to the file.

After you've installed the client you will be asked to pick a username and password, choose whatever you like and then it will ask you what files you want to share, giving you a list of the drives on your pc with tick boxes next to each, DON'T TICK THE BOX NEXT TO YOUR 'C' (hard) DRIVE. Just click the '+' sign next to whatever drive that the files you want to share are in and then ONLY tick the box of the folder that you're sharing.

After that click ok and it will take a bit of time to index your files. When it finishes you'll see a large window and two smaller windows to the right of that. The top smaller window is where you add usernames. Right click in there and type the username in the box that comes up exactly as it is on here, they're case-sensitive.

When you've inputted a username or two, you can right click on the name and 'browse files'. It'll open a new window to show you a folder that you can browse. Have a look, pick what you like, highlight them, right click and choose 'download file'.

Alternatively you can just click the 'Search files' button at the top, type in the name of the group or track and see if it's available. The ones in grey are users that have no download slots available at the moment, the ones in black are available immediately.

Your 'My Music' folder is usually in C:\My Documents\My Music so click the 'file sharing' button, click the '+' next to your hard drive (usually C) and then click the '+' next to My Documents and finally tick the My Music folder.

When you click 'ok' it will index the files in there and you're sharing! Don't worry about someone hacking into your pc, as long as you follow these instructions they've only got access to the folder you've ticked.

If you've any more questions feel free to fuck off somewhere else and ask em.

On your user list whats the difference between a user with a soulseek symbol with open wings & ones with closed wings ( I think they're wings, isn't it meant to be a bird). I know blue means their online.

Im squelch23 Ive got acid techno & hardhouse but mostly just 3 minute samples from bangingtunes.com but lots of old stuff. Also have full length breaks, psy-trance, house. My harddrive is full so Ive got loads on CD so ask if your after something.

It signifies whether a user is away or not. There is a button at the top to toggle between 'present' and 'away'.

1.The U75 room is there whenever someone feels like generating one, you just right click on the rooms window, type in the room name and away ya go.

2. Do you mean what files you've shared through Soulseek?

3.You choose which folders you're going to share, so whatever folder your mp3's are in, they're the folders you share. For details of how to share them, see the earlier posts on this thread.

Or do you mean how do you put stuff in folders, full stop?

It isn't there when you first fire SS up, you have to refresh the room list

Nice one, cheers for that. I seem to remember trying that and it not working but I'll try it again.

Also, it's a good idea to back up your Soulseek install folder as it sometimes goes tits up and you can then just restore it from the backup. So just right click on the folder in 'program files' if you're a Windows user and copy it to another location.
