Have a look in the FAQ's. You need to set a registry flag to accept more connections. Did the same to me but there is an easy to follow fix.

Just out of interest, it's a problem with the actual Soulseek protocol - the way it manages connections is poor (still, at least they're focussing on important things like "what I like" lists ).

The registry adjustment isn't always inappropriate either. Despite their insistence this does not affect XP machines, it always affected my XP machine... and my Linux machine running Nicotine does the same (see above), and my friend's OSX Mac, too.

It simply creates too many connections for a NIC to handle sometimes.
