I know mate I do love Hackney.... But we are both going to be travelling west for jobs so going from East and not taking the tube is a nightmare :(

But the main point being we can afford a nice house there :)

(I will still come and visit pub in the park ) :)

I've never lived in London, but go there quite often and always feel more at home in south London. I know it better - well, bits of it, anyway. My dad's from Collier's Wood/Morden sort of area, and up until a couple of years ago I've had family and/or friends in Tooting. Now, the friends I had there have moved up near Finsbury Park, which I like a lot less. The transport's much worse, for a start, and it just feels less welcoming.

finsbury park can be a bit   true

Born North (NW1 in far cheaper and more bohemian and non posh days), brought up elsewhere , lived East (E1 and E11 : 1981-1986 overall) as a student, but have now lived South (SE1 late 1987-1991, SE17 1991 to now) for the greater period of my London life.

I very much prefer South now, but you won't catch me dissing North or East either. I appeciate the best points of nearly all of it ...

West is a pile of  though ... :p

Yes, well Brixton's always been full of bible bashers Was Kennington Park any better?

kennington is cool
they had that jesus arena international a few years back tho
caused a bit of a stir

i love south london

as far as im concerned- north london has 2 redeeming features

1) Barts
and 2) The London
but sadly these two wonderful institutions alone cannot compensate for the mire of poo that surrounds them

I'm from 'the north' of the river (although my family are from the south on one side), yet I always say East rather than North (Hackney)...

I think South London is more scenic TBH. My friend lives in Sydenham and I always liked going there cos it was hilly, and there were lots of places where you could see a fair distance, something you really miss in the North.

The downside of the south is the bloody transport.

Well I like west London. We've got Notting Hill Carnival and, um, lots of other good stuff too. But it's secret west Londoner stuff, so I can't tell you lot about it.

Well, my parents were North Londeners before they left for "Little London" (a.k.a. the seaside town of Brighton) but I've always lived in the South, and I have to say I much prefer it where I am. On the other hand I know South London much better so it would make sense that I'd automatically feel more comfortable there. Basically I'm a South Londener now, but I know if circumstances had been different I might have just as easily been a North Londener.

When I used to work in Clapham North it really could be a struggle to drag myself north of the river at any point. :o

Lived in both, have been spending my days learning in both... go out in both and have friends all over the place (well, I was born here - North of the river mind, though I was actually living south at birth).

North (and for more reasons than my football team are north too).

Anyone else feel there's a slight bias in this poll what with being on a Brixton based bulletin board?

South London smells of wee. But so does North London. :(
