It's been hyped to the hilt, but here's the first specs and it sure looks purdy:

I'm just getting my head around it. A superlight netbook with full GPS and 3G connectivity and an ultra high res screen plus 4hrs (up to 8hrs) battery in a tiny, tiny package. Fuck, that's good.

I've no idea how usable the thing is, but on looks alone, it's an absolute winner.

It's a stunning looking device.

The look fantastic and that size, lovely. I think I would have a go before I got one. My work laptop has 1900x1200 and on a 17" display is pushing what's usable the res is so high.

That is suggesting much higher (relatively) because its only got an 8 inch display with 1600x768!

Arn't 'netbooks' meant to be low cost, limited cpu web browser/email etc? Thats just a very small expensive fully featured laptop?

Well, it's something a bit different from your average netbook, and it looks to be so slim you could slip it in your pocket. And the 3G/real-time GPS connectivity opens up all sorts of possibilities.

More specs:
There's 128GB solid state drive, Bluetooth streaming A2DP, 2GB RAM, built-in camera and microphone, 2 USB 2.0, Wi Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500, quick-boot option for super-fast access to the web, email, photos...

Dimensions (Approx.) : 9.65"(W) x 0.78"(H) x 4.72"(D)

I don't usually go all ga-ga over the latest bits and bobs, but if i had the money to spare, i'd buy that thing in a heartbeat.

Want...I think its cheap when you consider the ultra portables they've been sellling with the same spec ( im thinking of ram) for £1.5k upwards.

Sony always have the best laptop screens....and this does look like a seriously nice bit of kit.

Looks pretty, but I'm not sure it'd be that much fun to use. Expensive for a netbook, a little small to be a true laptop replacement.

Be nice to have in my imaginary portfolio of expensively assembled tech products for every eventuality mind.

Likely to cost around £750 over here - you wouldn't really want to "sling it in a backpack" like most of the netbooks.

Sony VAIO sure makes sexy laptops don't they? This is looking fine but too small for my work. And for that high resolution, imagine how small the text gonna be!!!

This also looks sweet. But even more expensive than a mac!

What a gorgeous bit of hardware! WANT
(apple make something like this please?)
