However, most are restricted to locked file formats so do check out fully.

I don't rate the kindle.

The Sony is locked down to certain file formats.

The sony doesn't have everything but since it's a doddle to convert books to either pdf, lit or epub it does enough. The Bebook costs around £250 and the illiad costs an amazing £400!

Right now there's two e-Readers for under £150 in highstreet shops, the PRS300 and another one that i'm not such a fan of and can't remember the name. There's nothing else in the UK that's worth spending more money on at the moment.

I have the PRS300, it is pretty good.

Latest update for the Kindle 2 allows you to load pdf files without converting. Cant change font size though but can change view to landscape.

hmm I bought an ebook for 199 exactly 7 months ago. They have two out now another with a wheel for £179...so where did you get the £299 price from

Hanvon from Ebuyer is £119.99 and genuinely very good.

Fuck, that Que ebook reader is $799 with 3G on board.

Who exactly is that marketed at? Looks nice and thin but its an irrelevance as far as I can see when you are talking fairly serious spec laptop prices for it.

That appears to be using an e-ink type display, so the plastic transistors they have spent 10 years developing seem a bit of a waste of time, I can do that with a glass substrate. Might be heavier but its going to be quite a bit cheaper.
