Songs With Great Intros

Almost anything by the Stranglers, they were kings of the killer intro.

No more heroes.

DAG-A DRAGGA DAGAa dag dag daaaaa..... bang bang.

I think that's how it went. Brill.

Burning Wheel - Primal Scream
Mr Brownstone - Guns N Roses
Shall We Take A Trip - Northside
Breaking Into Heaven - The Stone Roses
Star Sail - The Verve
Bulls On Parade - Rage Against The Machine

Prince - Lets Go Crazy

(i just heard it, just now and it does have a great intro. LONNNNNNNNNNG but great :D....)

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
2 get through this thing called life

Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here 2 tell u
There's something else
The afterworld

A world of never ending happiness
U can always see the sun, day or night

So when u call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
U know the one - Dr Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

'Cuz in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life
You're on your own

And if de-elevator tries 2 bring u down
Go crazy - punch a higher floor

Diamond Head - Am I Evil

Slayer - Hell Awaits/Angel Of Death

Venom - Buried Alive

Black Sabbath - War Pigs/Black Sabbath

Dixie Dregs - Take It Off The Top

The Beatles- and your bird can sing

The rest of the song is utterly superfluous tbh, except for when George plays the intro riff over again :)

Renegade Soundwave, spoken intro to Ozone Breakdown from the radio girl in the movie "The Warriors".

Also the mad spoken intro to Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hotrod".

Maddest one ever is the sonic assault of the Age of Chance tune "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Noise?".

'Good news......the big alert is over....now for that group out there that had such a hard time getting home.....sorry about that....I guess the only thing I can do is play you a song.....'

:D

Alabama 3 - Peace in the valley

For whatever reason you refuse to feel this space we're in, to know it's insanity, really know it. Whatever your particular anaesthetic is that you hold onto so desperately, the thing I mean that makes you think you know who you are. Whatever that thing is you allow to keep you sane, your ace in the hole, the psyche that keeps you from trying to guess at what your pimp has in store for you. Whatever keeps you from screaming out at this very moment in absolute and sheer horror. Whatever that is, whatever that is, it's a lie. It's a lie.

The first few notes of 'Pretty Vacant' are quite unmistakeable.

Spirit have some great intros (often featuring old movies, Star Trek or the Muppet Show) on their album 'Kahuna Dream'

Zappa's morally repugnant but oddly compelling 'Illinois Enema Bandit' also has a good intro.
