Songs for rainy weather

There's not actually any rain that though, is there?

It'd be like asking for songs about big cats and someone suggesting Dylan's Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat.

or something
I don't care, it has rain in the title and it's a cracking song. Stop nitpicking innit :) ;)

"The Alarm - Rain in the Summertime"

Great track, in spite of the fact that they're The Alarm.

They tried, bless 'em.

But this one keeps sticking in my head, and it's appropriate to the current July skies.

This is a kind of U2 stadium rock out, but it still has the essence of that Manc rock glory, even though they were Welsh.

Sort of like Big Country, in the end. Neither here nor there.

The accompanying video is a load of naked birds. Which is nice.

And Lots of Birds
Under the anvil of the sun
Sweat, like a train
I come, I come,
My body to dust
Scorched by the might of the sun

Burning light, burning white heat
Like wildfire
I sweat a fever
My body screams
Disintegrates in the heat

Our love is the FAITH that keeps on burning

I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face
I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face

Burnt at the stake, on a bed of fire
My body rises
Taking me higher
My loves desire
Is pure ascension fire

And love is the FAITH that keeps on burning

I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face
I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face

And then I run 'til the breath tears my throat
'Til the pain hits my side
As if I run fast enough
I can leave all the pain and the sadness behind

I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face
I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME
I love to feel the rain on my face
(I love to feel the rain on my face)
(In the summertime)

Remember, it's 1987.

Dennis Brown - Rain Drops Keep Falling

He sang this when he was 13 years old... an amazing voice for someone so young.

"The Great British Summer" (set to fairly fast calypso)
It's rainting yet again
We're getting wet again
I don't know where it comes from
But I know just where it's going.
It's dripping down my neck*
and I really feel a wreck*
don't you just hate it in the
wet wet wet.

More verses exist (altering at *), but can't be bothered to type them all out.
Ends with coda:
don't you just hate it
don't you just hate it,
I really really hate it
in the wet wet wet.
