Ironic? Maybe, but seeing the lyrics written down removes any irony for me cos i know of people who've been thru life struggling with exactly what he's describing. It is quite a juxtaposition b/w lyrics and tune, yes, but i think it captures strongly the guilt-trip that is often there.
