Somewhere nice to eat/drink in the vicinity of Waterloo?

Walk up to the top of the cut, turn right into blackfriars bridge road. On the right after 100 yards you'll find the crown pub. Really good beer, all the food is cooked in front of you behind the bar and is excellent, they also do the best chips in the locality. If the sun happens to be shining there is a nice beer garden at the back...

Maries cafe is the best place that i know round waterloo..Really good Thai food, not poncey or expensive just good food.

Went there last night. Squid with basil and chilli, prawn penang curry, pad thai and rice for two of us. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it...

Cool, I like Thai food. Probably be there 7.30ish so hopefully not too crowded.

If you like Thai food go to Maria's, as several people have mentioned. It's a proper caff in the day & then does Thai in the evening.

It was last night and we went to the Cuban place in the end. Took us about 40 minutes to find it too as my friend insisted on using some fancy satnav thing instead of just looking at a real map The mojitos were ok, and I enjoyed my meal, but my rather substantial companion thought the portion sizes were a bit meagre (his tuna was quite pathetic looking tbf). All in all, fine but nothing remarkable.

I reckon the food is really nice in there, but you do have to order a few side dishes too.

They do traditional British food (apparently there was tripe on the menu). It was packed though.

I've been to the Old Fire Station, just next to Waterloo station a couple of times. Nothing to really complain about, and the midweek menu seemed pretty good value for money....

I was in a pub near Waterloo with some friends, and we were looking for somewhere to eat. I remembered that someone had posted a little cafe that sold good Thai food, so I logged onto urban on my phone and found out what and where the place was. I hadn't been there until last night. I didn't realise it was 2 years ago that this thread was started
