With the changes, (three nights at the Marriot only) it worked out about 2,500 Yuan each including flights, breakfasts, transfers by car/driver, sauna/pool/steamroom etc. About 180 quid a piece inclusive.
The Marriott opened less than a year ago - Really stunning, STUNNING, resort setting.
Five star stuff at three star prices. The sea was unbelievable. An unbroken 7km (out of 25km) white sand beach, about 50 metres deep. Visability underwater in the sea anywhere between 8 and 15 metres . Mountains and palm trees. Five star meal (restaurant/room) fer under 100 Yuan plus tax.
Half hour from the airport. Wide dual carriage ways cutting through huge swathes of rice paddies - tended by ol' mamas in straw hats. Chickens wandering, water buffalo meandering, an old Zhongshen 100cc motorbike whizzes past - two fully grown pigs in the sidecar.
And narey a soul around. Half a dozen in the sea and another dozen on the beach.
Jet skies, wet bikes, fishing, scuba...extra but cheap.
Three or four split level pool lagoons, waterfalls, little coves with hottub jets, all among the palms.
Ahhhhhh! The ironies of China - compare and contrast.
Yalong Bay (Asian Dragon Bay). It's the last Paradise. Must be what Phuket/Bali was thirty years ago.
Shame it'll be just like them in another ten.
C'est la vie. I guess if it weren't for (peeps like) me then it would never have been developed in the first place.
