Someone Stole My Dead Rat

Yes, there is dead things appreciations and then there's just plain wrong putting dead things in the post to randoms....

This was a dead bird they quickly removed.... just in case you feel you are missing out...

That's a lovely dead bird, boohoo.

Heart attack?

I'm reminding myself of the Peter Greenaway film, Drowning By Numbers. You never see that on telly.

The daddy (or mummy, it's the bigun anyhow) rat is down there now. He's obviously had some poison and is on his way out. There are flies on him but he's still moving. No one is man enough to get a spade and dispatch him quickly though.

:(

I empathise with you quimc. I had a dead rabbit that also disappeared. Bloody typical isn't it - you just start training a rabbit to go round industriously cutting the grass for you so you don't have to, and Bosky comes round and shoots it :( ). He's posted a pic on another thread i think and this may eventually come to be used in evidence.

I'm hoping a fox had it.

I saw that, pic, sheds.

I'm all for taking a scientific interest in dead stuff, but I don't like to see the rat suffer.

Did bosky have it for 'is dinner?

You're mean, Dot.

Yep, i'm not a great shot with an air rifle but if i wing a rat with it, i do try to finish it off. :(

We had the last rabbit bosk shot for dinner (my word that was tough but i think it was the fairly ancient mother from the look that i got from a baby rabbit before it ran off and i never saw it again).

Bosky doesn't like them cos they go for trees and he's planted loads of trees in my garden for me.

Ratwatch Update:

I heard word that ratty was dead and on the paving. Someone had put a plastic bag over the body. When I went down it was no longer under the bag. Another dead rat stolen..

It's quite sad, how are they meant to know where they're not wanted?

RIP ratty.

I normally like sitting down there and enjoying the birds. None of them seem to be around just now. It feels like the garden of death..

I could have offered to replace the dead rat with a dead mink a couple of months back. I can tell you, it lay apparently unchanged in any particular* for at least 6 weeks, before disappearing.

*I mean of course, that after it was dead it did not appear to change. And nothing wanted to eat it either.

Dead cat of Stockwell's gone - thank godness!

Do you know the dead bird photo was my 8,000 post - how special is that?

Do you want more dead birds?

I've just been staring at an empty space where it used to be. I was going to study it over the next few days as it decomposed and take photos and everything.

Someone must have reported it and it's been removed.

hmph.

Has Freddy Star been seen in your area lately? He ate my hamster you know.

Dead Cat isn't gone. Dead cat is now bones with flesh cat - mummified in front yard... still it doesn't smell anymore...

I won't be taking photos....

It made me jump when I noticed it - I won't walk past that house cos I know i want to look at dead cat. Car crash mentality.

I nominate this thread for thead of the year, and I applaud quimcunx's efforts in the firled of scientific observation.

She's not mad, she's extremely interesting :)

Anyway, where's Dead Rat #3 coming from?

not quite - it's now sunbleached skin around bones. I didn't have a proper look cos it's a poor little dead cat.

I cycled over a dead squirel today

also once my daughters gerbil died in the cage and decomposed to bones before we found it - another one escaped and was killed by the cats and we thought this one had gone the same way ( i wouldn't have got gerbils and cats together - they were at her dads house and we had to rehome them)

also a child once threw up on the floor of my old 2cv car that was just metal and I went away for a week and when I came back it had evaporated
