Solfest 2009

Solfest campsite open Thursday 27th from 2pm till 9pm...YAY!! Park van, open beer, get wheelhub, light fire, open more beer...

Thats one of my favourite things about Solfest....you are allowed to have a fire! Absolutley excellent being able to all sit round your own fires and its good they trust people to be responsible! I hope this doesn't change!

been to the Glade and Big Chill this year so far and really looking forward to Solfest again! I've got to work it because im skint now due to a great year of festivals so far!! yaaay! ILS in the dance tent!

Couldn't you go to Allonby(think that's the name, pogo can verify) for hot rolls or a chippie before you go on site?
Aren't you taking any food?

I'm always too excited about being there to get hungry straight away, and no, I never take ANY food, ever.

I don't have a camping stove, and tbh, the food is that cheap I couldn't be arsed with all the pissing about storing and cooking it anyway

Problem with going on the Thursday is going to be me tucking into my drugs too early - think I might well leave it until Friday morning, thinking on.

We'll hopefully be going camping locally after the festie anyway, so will get a decent holiday

I have a camping stove but god knows where  I'm buying a flat one for £12. I need a cuppie when I get up in the morning.
I've bought a couple of instant pasta things and some cuppa soups, just in case.
I get cold too easily if I don't eat :(

£12 will buy me two breakfasts or dinners and a snack at Solfest - I don't feel the need to drink tea or coffee when I'm at a festie, too busy imbibing other stuff.

Why eat shitty stuff like cuppa soups, when you can get a really decent veggie plate of something from the village green places for £3?

Totally agree with this. Some festivals are quite expensive to eat at but not Solfest, plenty of good healthy food for little money.

Soj, that doesn't mean you can spend the extra dosh you save on drugs and get wasted before I get there

I thought you were a bleedin' hippy health food freak :D

You won't be allowed into the yoghurt weaving classes if you eat cuppa soups  :D

but they're cream of mushroom with croutons :(

and you should see what pogo takes!!

They'll be cream of mushroom with a million bleedin' E numbers :( What does pogo take then? :) I've never seen him eat, I thought he lived on whatever it is he keeps in that hip flask :D

I can't make it cos it's my dad's birthday weekend, but....the Solfest website (unless I'm being really dense) doesn't actually tell you where the festival is.....!!

It does, look under the 'living at solfest' link, and go to location :p

God, they don't make it easy! :D Putting the words 'in cumbria' or something on the homepage would be a good idea wouldn't it.

The lineup's alright isn't it!

And a unicycling workshop.

I know - took me bloody ages the first time :D

Yeh, line up is alright, but no Alabama 3 this year. Still can't have everything. Am interested in Ade Edmondson's punk classics played on folk instruments :D Anti Nowhere League n all! Will def try to see Buzzcocks and Blockheads, and The Orb

:( What does pogo take then? :)

Usually enough for one solid meal each day and a few snacks to keep my pills from knocking holes in my stomach. Beyond that, I'll take my chances with whatever takeaways are on site.

Plus my coffee pot. I seldom go far from a source of decent coffee and trekking from the arse end of Solfest's camp site to queue-up for indifferent/instant coffee from a van is not my idea of a good morning! :p :D

Yes Allonby - The post office/papershop in the middle of town by the bridge/beach car park does top-flight bacon rolls and other takeaways. :)

Not sure if they're there this year, but down by the Drystone stage, there is a little coffee house tucked right in by the front, that does excellent filter coffee

Yes, I know that one, coffee & faeries! :) Its been in the same place before. Which is fine when you are on site but a bit far from the tent in the morning! :)

Oh, that is terrible news :(

Good luck with finding another soon.

Ta mate - am surprisingly mega-chipper about it! Am seeing it as an opportunity to find something I really want to do, and have applied for a couple of really exciting jobs already :)

sounds good! Every cloud has a silver lining and all that. Every time I've been made redundant, I've found something better - and I'm sure you will :)

It's good to have a little break from work anyway. :)

Well, I did my serious weeping and wailing the other week, and now it's time to get on with my life! I've only been made redundant once, and was re-employed by the same boss, same day.

I'm excited by the possibilities now

Will def try to see Buzzcocks and Blockheads,

I'm only going to see them :D
Pogofish eats at the tent before going onto the site Shirl. You truly do NOT want to see him until he's had coffee ;)

I haven't decided about the pate this year thank you mr fish :D I was toying with some of that yummy smoked salmon from Lidl, that keeps ok.

Take it from one who's been there, redundancy is the way to go :)

Not really it's a pile of shit but you can come out of it on the up, just make up your mind to have a go :D

Go for it girl, whatever you want, just do it. Or get a market stall like me until your plan works out :D
The alternative is nit worth contemplating
