Sofas! What's yours like?

When we first got a house we had an assortment of donated furniture including a v. tatty but v.comfortable sofa. The lass who gave it to us was round one day and remarked how much she missed it since she'd had loads of great shags on it. I'd rather have not known about that bit and didn't care for it so much afterwards (and Mrs SFM put a cover over it!). About 8 years ago we got two blue leather sofas in the Argos sale - damned comfortable they are too and great for a shag! ;)

I gots an ikea EKTORP! hes got white covers though :/ Im planning to dye them but hes currently got a throw to stop him getting dirty.

We went for dark brown, low armrests (for lying down!) chaise on the right, and all standing on dark wenge wood blocks. It's the perfect size for gsv across and me on the chaise! V comfy. I always fancied having a fairly posh sofa, and glad we went for this one.

Ours is so old, we're practically sitting on the floor :o

Think it's not helping my back at all sitting in what feels like a hole :D

Mine's a sofa bed, 4 seater. I got it off gumtree for £70, was originally bought for £800. Which seems a lot. Cos it's not the nicest ever. Makes a proper comfy bed though and is about as solid as a sherman tank.

It's mattress/cushion is green and it's made out of some hardwood or another.. it's not flatpack.

Ours are like this (2 x 2-seaters) but in dark brown. They look dead trendy, but they aren't very comfortable, at all. (The landlord bought them.)

cheap, shit leather pap, seats half the family and now has a fucking almighty rip in the arm seemingly from nowhere?

It's so bad it cuts of the circulation to my legs when sat on for 10 mins or more.

We just bought a new one. Actually, my aunt gave us the money, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered (the old one, although 22 years old, was still relatively comfy - just looked like shit).

It's this one:

It's a bit mumsy I suppose, but really comfy. The selling point was that it was cheap (£249) and has fully washable removable covers - everything you see is removable - not just the seat cushions and back cushions but the whole thing. Plus they sell replacement covers should yours finally give up the ghost. My mum's had the same sofa in natural (cream) for 8 years or more and has only just got a new pair of covers this week - and that's with a coal fire too.

Sure, I'd love something a bit more fashionable, but seriously, by the time it's gone out of fashion again we still won't be able to afford another to replace it.

I got the matching footstool too, which is sooo comfy.

that's just too much, I'm jealous, mine is a stupid grubby futon type thing, I was going to buy a leather one over Christmas, but I couldn't find one I really loved, so I'm keeping my eyesore and researching until I find one I really love.

Don't forget, there are a lot of people in this house...

I've got two cream leather sofas, a three seater and a two seater. The two seater is in reasonable nick but the three seater one has gone all flat where I lie on it. The cushions are sewn in so they can't be plumped. Theya re also both grubby and have been scratched by the cats!

Really need to get some new ones, I've got the money but I can't decide what I want.

Am I odd for not owning a sofa? I have a few leather recliners instead.

I want leather recliners! But my front room is tiny, I could only have two and it seems a bit antisocial if people come over. Although I suppose I could let them sit on the chairs and I could sit on the floor.

I am reaallly lucky to have a posh friend who is an interior designer. She gave me two sofas which are apparently some sort of brushed Linen ( Ok so it looks like corduroy ). They are huge and take up my whole front room but I love them.
She also gave me some fantastic hand made silk curtains.
I love it that I have these items destined for palatial style accomodation in a skanky council flat. :)

it won't look so lovely in a few years time :( ;)

IKEA 3 seater with black cotton covers. The cat likes it. I sit in a Malung Mastermind type recliner with footstool myself.
