There is a National Committee of Respect tomorrow. Unlike the other organisations, I expect Respect to be the only one to respond positively to both the SWP and the No2EU development.

The Respect NC decided to circulate proposals and encourage branches to discuss, and take a detailed discussion and resolution at its next meeting.

The Greater Manchester branch is discussing just such a resolution tonight. There are interesting local developments there, in Salford and Wigan particularly, involving Respect, SP, SWP, the Community Action Party and others. There's no fence sitting involved - Respect will play its full part, both in putting forward candidates for Respect and seeking a wider coalition and electoral agreement with other left forces without any of the cynicism and sectarianism sometimes shown by the SP letter and the SWPs non-engagement.
