I went last night - they were even better than I expected.

They played loads of old stuff and hits like Sure Shot, Sabotage, Body Movin', Ch-ch-ch-check it out, Root Down, Ill Communication, Time to Get Ill, Brass Monkey etc etc. They didn't play too much of the new instrumental stuff, 3 or 4 tracks at most. They were ok, but there was a distinct move to the bar when they played new stuff :D

Considering they iz all knocking on a bit they had loads of energy and put a really good show on. Yauch looked greyer than ever, but still  with it.

Mixmaster Mike was the star of the show for me. He made loads of old stuff sound new by dropping samples from people like MIA. He worked hard! And he's really got the skills to pay the bills. The rest of the Beastie Boys were practically serenading him when they did "3 DJ's and 1 MC"

Brrrrapp! (as we say round these parts) to the DJ!

Only downside was (as ever) the poor sound quality of Brixton Academy...

I was going to say what a cheek - that's the exact same set I heard but then realised we were there on the same night :o :D

Yes mixmaster mike was ace

saw mixmaster back in early july, he was on earlier than excpected, but still pulled out some great mixing

he did a good bit with the clash.

so whats this new album, is it out now?
always had a soft spot for the beasties, must be cos im a punker at heart, it was a punk that got me into them, got a good mate who loves his hop-hop but cant stand the "whiney boys".
