So who likes the Human League?

I'd go with this. Definitely go and see them live if it were free though. Or even not free but not much effort.

I saw Heaven 17 once, they were fab!

H17 are def. fab - a different league from the HL, despite their same roots IIRC - I am always surprised that there has never been a resurgence of H17 catchy pop - some of it is still wonderful

I love them. I saw them a few years ago when they supported Culture Club, and they were excellent.

His voice is great and so are the girls.

He is also rather dashing :o

They are a good band. Some classic catchy pop tracks.

He called them a miserable pop act before he sang The Lebanon. Still being fairly topical after two decades.

Still play 'Travelogue' and love it. I've got 'Reproduction' somewhere but only on an ancient cassette, which I cannot be arsed to dig out despite a sudden desire to hear 'Empire State Human' & relive my youth!

They went a bit poppy but not in a bad way.

love the first couple of albums, and while 'dare' is probably the ultimate statement of 80's electro-pop, i don't really have any desire to ever hear it again...

They were really were good tonight. I'd forgotten how they were pioneers in early electronica, and just how strong their back catalogue is. That was a great gig.

*impressed

I would like to point and laugh, but I'm actually strangely jealous:confused:

this does seem to get forgotten in general 'cos people just think about Dare but the ideas in the stuff they were doing up to that point are still really current. travelogue is aces. I'm glad to hear they were good and not an embarrasing old shambles which i might have expected.

They really were exceptionally good. Oakey's voice was still really, really strong and he's still looking lean too.

The sound was fantastic and although it was a corporate bash (with free drink - huzzah!) a fair few members of the public had also got in through an easy-peasy competition so there were some mustard keen fans in the house getting right into it.

And the hits kept on a-coming all night! Fantastic stuff. I feel quite privileged to have seen them in such a small venue - I never thought I'd hear 'Being Boiled' live again :)

Cool. They definitely don't deserve to get lumped in with Kim Wilde and Kajagoogoo on the now and then tour, which is where I think they were at till quite recently. Having said that, Kids in America is still pretty great.

yep "reproduction" and "travelogue" cool even "dare"when im pissed!!!you say youre getting in for free and free beer?! id watch any fucker for free beer allnight!! it,ll sound allright eventually!:D

Quite like early stuff like Being Boiled, but that's about it. Can't stand Don't You Want Me etc.

More or less this - Lost interest in them about the time Dare came out. Recently put some of their early stuff on my MP3 player & have been enjoying it again but I would hardly call them pioneers - Others were well ahead of them at the time.

Regret they cancelled the one & only time I had tickets to see them. :(

liked them a lot as a teenager, bought the holiday 80 ep which was their first underground sorta hit which had an excellent gary glitter cover version

jeeze that's nearly 30 years ago:eek:

I still drag out a few of their songs now and again, used to really love them and had such a teenage boy crush on the 2 girls - who were only in because Phil letched onto them in a club one night - but I didn't care :o They were one of the few electroinc bands I liked when I was going through my "real music is only drums and guitars stage"

Well I'm jealous and make no apologies for it :)

I'm glad they are still good live - I like a bit of Human League.:) I saw them many moons ago supporting Siouxsie and the Banshees at the Rainbow and they were amazing - however, that was pre-girls when they were still using their projection show behind them. I was impressed.
