I voted Lib Dem

As a party member I voted Lib Dem but I could have easily voted Green. I read both the Lib Dem and Green manifestos (I didn't bother with the others) and found the Lib Dem manifesto vague and unsatisfying in comparison with the Green manifesto which was inspiring and to the point.

Voted SNP, as usual. There was a very stereotypical lib dem man outside the primary school: beard, specs, tweedy jacket, the whole lot.

At the end of the day I would of prefered to vote Green in Euro, but I couldn't not vote or support candidates who stood for No2Eu, even though the whole project was a complete disaster for the confidence of the left/labour movement as well as electorially and will probably give a better rating for fringe right groups, Tories an Fascists.

Only hope that something in the longer term can be built out of this ill planned project.

I know, just the way that I feel. Wish the whole situation was a lot different:(

Handing out No2Eu leaflets in well off part of Warwickshire, most people thought it was some rightist, little englander group. Especially 'Lend Me Your Vote' title. Hopefully some of them will vote for them.

Green in Euros - tactical vote to keep out BNP and Nick Griffin in North West.
Spoilt ballot for first time ever in Locals - just three main parties, all crap candidates.

Labour are going to get trounced. Hope something useful will come out of No2EU but not holding my breath, so need to rebuild Respect for next elections.

The only election result worth staying up for tonight is Bristol where Respect are standing three candidates including Jerry Hicks in Lockleaze ward. Results about 12.30-1am. Lots of county results during day time tomorrow - worth watching out for Barrow in Cumbria, where Socialist People's Party have six candidates and Tamworth in Staffordshire where Anti Academies campaign also have six candidates including Respect member Rob Marsden in Stoneydelph. Greens could do well in various shire counties. Should also get turnout data from the verification.

Real fun starts 9pm sunday with Euro count starting in all 27 countries. France, Portugal, Germany and Holland could see good votes for left wing parties. I think No2EU will have bombed unfortunately - too little, too late and with no long term tactics.

Looks like Crazy haired fool Geert Wilders' Freedom Party have come second in the Netherlands.

So, you were saying.....?

Good to see Hicks beat the BNP mind.

Didn't bother walking down to the village hall to vote in the end. Couldn't be bothered with any of them.

Hicks did okay considering he's been preoccupied with other things and hasn't been able to concentrate on building a personal vote. It's gonna be hard to make a breakthrough in these wards because they are dominated by the LibDems. I don't see Respect making much gains in LibDem territory in the short term - need to target Labour areas. I would have rather we stood in Burnley.... But it keeps the organisation moving on and given the split and loss of SWP activists to paper-selling, it will take time to build things back up again, but it shows there's every prospect. I hope to see much more targeted campaigns in 2010 when most cities have elections.

Several hundred of my near neighbours voted for the fash - and doubtless many of my immediate neighbours would have too - had they had a candidate. :(

Well having had a look at the 2004 EU election results, the BNP got at or near 8% in 2 regions, a percentage or so less than that in a few more, and the others were around 3-4%. Considering how proportional representation works they very nearly got a seat or two last time, so I wont be surprised if they manage it this time.

They got 6.4% in the north west last time - so it seems almost unthinkable they won't get 8% or more this time

If the Derbyshire Co. election results are owt to go by the BNP hopefully wont do too well in the E.mids. Found that many folk who told me they were voting BNP didn't vote at all on the day. They came a distant 3rd without checking the breakdowns.
I missed the No2EU candidate on the sheet and ended up going SLP. They ran no visible election campaign round here. Vote dogma, not popular. Most people probably didn't know about either left party.
Who the fuck here voted BNP or christian party?

Plaid Cymru had an average night. We increased our share of the vote by 1.1% up to 18.5%, got 127,000 votes and Jill Evans got back in.

However the Tories won the national vote in Wales and that has obscured this good news, rightly so it's a disaster and a sign of change. The Tories completely dominating the 'British' areas of Wales with Labour not getting any look in whatsoever.

BNP pitiful 5% in Wales, Greens beating them.

UKIP won the final seat in Wales, although they 'only' went up by 2%.

A joint Plaid-Green slate would've topped the poll and elected a Plaid MEP and a Green Party MEP. Just saying.
