Yeah right - I used to be a big fan of Big Phill, from the old GLR days and I've seen him to stand up once or twice. But on last night's evidence he's lost it.

Havent seen him live for years but he's a great stand-up.

Blimey. You live on your last performance don't you? A heavily edited performance at that.

This is what's wrong with today's society, no patience, you want everything now.... I remember when all round here was fields... blah... blah... mutter.... grumble....

Everything he does lately seems pretty average, his contributions to Buzzcocks and QI etc. I don't know how badly edited he was in last night's show, anyone at the taping? If I was him and they'd edited all my funny lines out of a comedy show I'd be furious!

God, the Amy Winehouse episode was hilaaaarious. The best bits are on youtube I think.

I met him at glastonbury a couple of years back. He was just stood watching some jazz band but he greeted every pleb who came up to say 'you're that Phil Jupitus aren't you?' as if they were his best mate in the world; all shaking hands and chatting and recommending bands to go and see. It takes a special kind of lovely bloke to act like that I reckon :)

I think Amstell is a far far funnier host than Mark 'up his arse' Lamarr.

Still the show stands or falls on the strength of the guests (ie their potential for being laughed at). Kimberley Stewart was game but not particualrly witty or entertaining.

Did enjoy the George Bush Ipod gag.

Amstell is the thinking person's Brand. His routines on PopWorld are the stuff of legend, such as as good as asking well-known homophobe Beenie Man out on a date. I read an interview with him where he said that his mum didn't expect him to be suited to comedy: "What? I'm gay and Jewish, how can I not be suited to it?" :D

"you're gonna need a bigger kitten."

:D

I love amstell.

btw - i think he loved Jessica Hynes / Stephenson, he let her off with only the fondest of teasing. But then, don't we all (love Jessica)?

Yep!

I love that we can tell who he likes by how much shit he gives them.

It was bum last night I thought. Really slow, no zip. That bloke form Wakefield *yawn* Noel Fielding is quite good though. Got an 'I'm a slightly retarded 12 yr old so I'll be quite rude but you'll forgive me' -vibe about him.

I saw Jupitus at UEA in 1992 or 93 or something, supporting Lamaar. He walked onto the stage and said "Two fat blokes went into a pub...me and me dad, we had a great time" :D:D:D

Yeah the guests were shit...although the Courtney Love joke almost made up for all of it. Jermaine Jackson seemed to enter into the spirit of things.

I thought Fielding was fucking funny, and the Courtney Love joke was one of the best bits of TV for ages...whatshisname from that NME band (The Gash? Gimbals?) was qutie droll and took his kickings well...

I did like the Kate Nash 4/7 joke...

Someone made a comment about murder and cheap publicity to help your career and Simon said 'Just like Courtney Love when she killed Kurt'...immediately afterwards a box flashes up with 'Disclaimer! Simon is DEFINTELY WRONG about this', whole audience either still going 'ooo', panel falling apart etc.

it wasn't quite that. simon was talking to noel and taht about how they went oout partying with loads of celebrities eg Courtney Love, then Noel said "she woudl snap you like a twig" and simon said "...or murder me and make it look like suicide."

fielding said that she would snap amstell in half like a twiglet.

Amstell said, "or kill me and make it look like suicide"

Sharp intake of breath. Screen flashes "Simon is definitely wrong about this" in big letters.

Amstell: I saw it on a documentary.

Boo... the big kids got there first.

The delivery was spot on and the intake of breath from the audience was brilliant..followed a few seconds later by the on-screen disclaimer :D

Really? I thought it was the zippiest, funniest Buzzcocks I've seen for ages!

That Ryan Jarman bloke's been on it before, he's very naturally funny, I think.
