So my bike got nicked today

It fucking sucks, doesn't it? I've had 3 stolen in the past five years. If you haven't already reported it stolen then get it insured, wait a month, then report it stolen. I did this once years ago and it made me feel a lot better. Good luck!

I had a bike nicked once, it was a very nice racing bike, light as a feather. I got the money back though as we claimed on the house insurance although i had to lie and say it got nicked out of the garage, and not that the police had been seen putting it in the back of their van!

Gutted. Had a couple nicked and it's the worst feeling when it starts to sink in that there is no bike there.

Ouch. I dread that sensation when you walk back to your locked bike and you know its potentially not going to be there. If you get a replacement, lock it in the bike park bit of 89 Albert Embankment, its only a 3 minute walk away from the train / tube and there's always armed MI5 policemen kicking about. Not that that actually stops bike theft.

I get the feeling the only thing to do is to use as much heavy metal as you can, attached to the shittiest bike you can bare to use.

They can get through owt, all you can do is play the percentages and make them look for an easier and more valuable target.
