Weird.

Using one finger or three?

Linear formation or D-form?

Three fingers.

(Is this it \/ ?)

EADGBE
X12300

I think I have big, blokey fingers and the index gets pushed back to the limits of fret-ability by the other two. I *can* do it. It's just that only 2% of the time it comes out alright

I dont know what that is! Some sort of B chord maybe.

A is:

EADGBE
x03330

You can do it with your first finger barred over DGB on the third fret, or fingers 1 2 and 3 on the 3rd fret.

Whoops. I was mixing up frets and my fingers.

It's the 2nd fret tho, innit? So, it was meant to be:

EADGBE
x02220
123 (fingering)

Anyway, that's the one I can't get right. can't seem to cram me fingers in there consistently

You need to kind of 'tuck' each finger in behind each other. The fingers shouldn't be in a straight row like you're doing the scout salute.

Or maybe get a giant guitar.

Happy tuesday everyone....good morning to my sore fingerssssssssssssssssssss!

Mine are only sore immediately after playing now.

Last night was typical for me. About 1.5 hours of Hse of the Rising Sun and the 'oldies progression' (G, Em, C, D)

Why don't you post the score for house of the rising sun?
I can annoy my flatmate too....

here ya go :)

Am, C, D, F
Am, C, E, E
Am, C, D, F
Am, E, Am, E

pick it, strum it in groups of 4 or 6 or whatever you fancy

I'm working on having a fast, accurate, strumming version by a few weeks time. In fact that's another major part of the learning curve - it takes a while to start hitting the right strings on non-open chords.

Morning folks. My fingers are ripped up today too.I'm working my way through Rush's spirit of radio.Last night i played the intro about 500 times.I think my wife wants to stab me :)

NIce one....Perhaps everyone can do this for the songs they are busy learning at the moment.....Keep this thread aliveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :) :)

Anyone got any other old blues standards?????

Very impressed people. I practised last night as well - Spion I took those progressions you posted and played them, very nice mate. But how many bars in each chord?

Try this as well -

Am without the second finger in the middle. Not sure what chord this is.

Then E.

Then Dm and fiddle about up there a bit, then home to Am without the middle finger.

Slowly like, in 4, and hold the second and fourth strums. Lovely.

I'd like to learn Lay Lady Lay.

As many as you like, in any order you like. They're just chord families, so make you own progressions from them. Glad they were useful :)

Try using fingers 2,3 and 4 instead- yr little finger is smaller and so less likely to touch the high e string.

:o The tab stuff is still Russian to me...

Every Big Girl Does At Easter (reversed, just a useful mnemonic) are the strings i.e. EADGBE

What's underneath is the finger positioning according to which fret. So if you're familiar with A, A sus 4 is moving your third finger down to the third fret iyswim

Here's a pic
