It's a well known fact that flu viruses have extra-terrestrial origins - which is why every time a comet comes round there are loads of new strains. Basically they ride from galaxy to galaxy in the tails of comets... a bit like really small versions of the aliens off Aliens.

THeres a theory that that is how life on earth started...

viruses adapt, by *learning* to live inside hosts...therefore, a previously animal-only virus, can *learn* to live in a human...and become a human virus

Don't worry, it all happened in John Gummer's constituency and he was on Any Questions last night saying eveything was fine!

Unless I've missed the fat sadist, there's been a remarkable lack of Bernard "Bootiful" Matthews from the airwaves since this broke - I notice they're happy to use him as a face during the ad campaign in the 80s, though.

Bit of a Ronald Reagan figure? Reassuring front puppet...

Was it really him or was it like Captain Birdseye?

Should I stop buying your products?

No, not at all - the Food Standards Agency says that people who eat properly cooked poultry are not at risk of catching the disease.

Will Bernard Matthews remove its products from supermarkets?

No. None of our products will be recalled following the Food Standard Agency's advice that avian flu does not pose a food safety risk for UK consumers.
---thats what they think! REcall! REcall! REcall!

No it's not.

Bird Flu

Anyone see that old American film Crazies about a virus and national guard has to come in to kill the humans in a town?

Bird flu is scary - a symptom of the mass processing and industrialsation of factory farming that passes for a caring and sharing farming community plus mega millionaires like Matthews.
