SNP confirms lurch to the right

Put it better than I could, I feel i was blinded by my antagonism to Hibee's remarks.

Unfortunately the great opportunity to set up the SSP in Wales- the WSP, failed and instead we came out with 'Forward Wales'.

The left outside Plaid consequently doesn't really exist, because the competing factions in far-left politics (the SWP and the like) won't allow it to exist, they all want to dominate the movement for themselves. That's why the Welsh Socialist Alliance broke down, though I do have sympathy for those within that party that argued for an SSP-style organisation.

Until recently they were I think Dilzy - not to the extent I would vote for them, but it's hardly difficult to be left of new labour after all.

But recetnly they seem to have decided to join the rest of the pack on the thatcherite "centre ground"

The SSP are obviously the only socialist force in Scotland. But I still think the SNP are to the left of the centre. They haven't gone to the centre ground yet. I'm not Scottish and will never be a member of the SNP so it doesn't affect me, although i'd like to see them do well electorally so that Scotland gains independence, triggering a debate about the future of the UK.

The Tartan Tories show their ugly head.

to simply describe the Nats as tartan tories simply doesnt help understand them. they are a disparate group from little scotlanders to solid internationalists- with the internationalists in the majority. they are seen by the public at least to be slightly to the left of labour- and in parliament have attacked labour from the left- not right

Yes a bit like when your on a train in the train station and there's two trains sitting. Sometimes you think it's your train that's moving off when in fact it's the other.
