Snow!!!!

... so who do I ring at the council to give them an earful to find out why they aren't bothering to clear pavements or roads that are on their 'plan', let alone the small side roads?

Utterly fucking pathetic. Do they even have an emergency planning department in Lambeth?

Calm down ...the sun will clear it all soon enough. Eco-friendlier too :D

I would like to know this too because i have fallen over a lot this morning and am now bruised and have an aching hip. I could do serious damage to myself with this falling over business so whilst I'm sure i looked comical struggling to navigate the treacherous pavement, its really not funny :(

I wouldnt usually bother to complain but it hurts

Not my road, the winter sunshine doesn't get high enough in the sky to make a difference.

Salt and grit is a natural product, so it's eco friendly enough isnt it?

I think your injuries are worthwhile when one considers the comedy benefits.

I just want the damn ice to go.

I don't like walking anywhere feeling like a permanent drunk.

Isn't there a by-law that states it's home-owner's responsibility to clear snow from the pavement in front of their properties? It certainly used to be the case, but not sure if it still stands. No-one seems to have done it, except a few shop owners...

IIrc from when I did law years back, if a homeowner clears the snow from in front of their home and in fact makes the pavement more slippery or icy where they have swept, then they may well be opening themselves to an action if someone subsequently slipped over and injured themselves so afaik, there's not a requirement to clear snow at all :)

I think it had to do with maintaining a "duty of care" or something... I seem to recall at least one case where that had happened and the householder was held liable

Before anyone says "Health & Safety gorn" mad :D, I can remember my Father saying the same thing some 30 years+ ago. - I believe it's actually your local Councils responsibility as they have the public liability insurance in case of accidents as a result - you're unlikely to have that :)
