Snooker 2020-2021

This is a badly subbed article, putting up Trump and O'Sullivan as certainties in their semis. If Ding's on form, and is allowed to play his game, he can take anyone in a single session match.

The reason I mentioned Ding was because I saw an old list of matches somewhere, and misinterpreted that he was meeting O'Sullivan in the semi.

I missed that one because of the rugby, but watched the opening four frames of Trump-Grace* this evening, before Quest bumped it for football. Trump didn't really have to break a sweat for his 3-1 lead.

I think I heard Hendon and Foulds right, when they said that, if Trump gets through, it'll be the first time a tournament has had the same two finalists three years running since Henry-White in the WCs of the early nineties.

*Not two words I ever thought I'd see in the same sentence.

And it pretty much followed the same pattern for the evening session.

The UKs started today, with BBC coverage from Saturday. Worth its own thread?

The first shot is great & then it's like he's on a practice table. That's a great 147.

If the balls are aligned, which is fairly random, a lot of it is about keeping position. If you can minimise the distance the cue ball travels then you've got a much better chance.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Ding play as poorly as that, and searching for excuses at the end, blaming the table.

And O'Sullivan was shit too. He deserved to go home.

I'm curious as to what match they'll put on the red button this evening. I'm torn between William-Akani, Joyce-Wilson and Murphy-Slessor. I reckon Kyren might get the nod, after his maximum.

I'm watching Murphy/Slessor on Eurosport- which game is on red button?

Slessor deserved to win that and Murphy deserved to go home too.

So, Ronnie, Ding and Murphy all out - exciting times.

Watching the highlights on BBC now as I missed the early frames of Murphy/Slessor.

They went with Wilson-Joyce, and the former won without breaking sweat. He looked pretty tidy.

Whether you like either of them individually, I do like Davies and Taylor together in the commentary box. DT asked the Nugget how many Triple Crowns he'd won, and he nonchalantly replied that he couldn't remember.

Robertson v Li on Eurosport

They've employed some more realistic fake applause. Bit odd as there is no audience.

Robertson is all over Li. 4-1

They've employed some more realistic fake applause.

I'd noticed that too. The first weekend stuff sounded awful and tinny. Davies remarked how one shot didn't deserve the applause it got, and was then told that Jan Verhaas was operating the clapping machine.

Do you reckon Mark Williams' new beard affects his cueing, as it runs along his chin?
