Smoking ban - yea or nay?

Do you smoke and what do you think of the ban on smoking?

They have already been posted on other such threads, so I'm not proposing to get bogged-down in that nit-picking minutae again.

Lets just say the figures speak for themselves. :)

Which threads? What post number? Look you said it, either give me a link or withdraw what you said.

That is the whole point about the smoking verses drinking issue. Passive smoking is just that. Passive. The negative drinking actions are active, ie they are done thru the conscious decision of a human. For example getting drunk and hitting someone.

It's an easy mistake you made, but rubbish it was.

Neither. You can waste your time going over old-ground if you like. :)

There are plenty of ways alcohol can thoughtlessly fuck-up someone else's life. Violent crime etc is only the beginning of it. :(

One quote you can have tho, from the director of ASH - "Alcohol causes no one any harm at all" The source was the BBC, when she was interviewed just after the vote for the ban - Think that says all we need to know about their kind of vision & concern about health?

I take your lack of examples as accepting that there isn't a similarity to passive smoking, I mean doh!!??

What a waste of my time, and your refusal to acknowledge it just makes you look like a liar, a fool or probably both.

Maybe you're trying to fool yourself into thinking you didn't make a mistake, still I am not surprised you want me to forget about it.

So I will!

No, you can take it that I'm not that interested in seeing yet another thread railroaded up the same pedantic blind-alley as others before it by someone who insists on clinging to a pointless & totally artificial definition of 3rd party "harm," when there are wider issues to discuss.

Surely if you dislike smoking in a particular pub, you could drink someplace else where they forbid smoking? The market will solve our problems after that!

Would work but until the ban no pub wanted to ban smoking for fear of losing the smoking trade.
