Air of bewilderment model's own
Well?

(I'm thinking of the early Kelly Joe Phelps/sittin' on the porch swing/Paris Texas soundtrack kinda stuff. I have some but need more)

Yes it was Ry Cooder. I was hoping for something other than the things I mentioned myself :)

Blind Willie Johnson, if only for the sublime dark was the night
Son House, as mentioned.
Johnny Shines.

Chris Rea, Dancing Down The Stony Road
Rea is fantastic on the bottle neck.
You could also check out The John Butler Trio. Young Aussie who plays Dobro. Very nice live:cool:

Then there's all the old stuff too:cool:
Elmore James, Tampa Red, etc

eta, got me retuning my guitar now :)

I would have a play around in the D tuning, and also an open G.

Blind Willie Johnson's 'God Moves On the Water', in of course open D, like all of his.

I've been studying a few Robert JOhnson tabs such as 'Crossroad Blues' -, 'Come On In My Kitchen', and 'If I had Possession Over Judgement Day'. These are in Open A, which is just a Capo on the second fret of an open G, and was Johnson's most used tuning.

Technique tips- for a clean sound, dampen with your fingers behind the slide. Also slide down the neck as well as up, this can often be overlooked
