Sleeping in airports

Aw, you poor lamb. :( Did they hurt your bottom...?

Atlanta Bus Station at 3.30 in the morning. A more sordid collection of individuals you will never meet. You must be viligant at all times.

No. They're designed so that you can't slouch in them, and they have individual wooden armrests so you can't flop over. You have to sit constantly as if there's a schoolmarm with a yardstick standing behind you, waiting to strike.

Also, they're just far enough apart that you can't put your feet up on the ones across the aisle.

I've seen that as well. Real bummer.

Hong Kong is quite nice. There's free internet and the place is so huge and dreamy. Plasma TVs of news and stuff.

Dulles airport and Frankfurt are the worst ones I've slept in. Slept quite soundly in Athens airport, hidden behind an abandoned check-in desk :D

Slept in a few airports, and agree on Stanstead being utterly shite. Can't say i've really enoyed any of the them in fact. Spent far more time sleeping in Victoria bus station though, it's like a wee part of Scotland sometimes, or at least it used to be.
'Aright big man, goat a light there?', 'aye', 'you Scoatish, aye?', 'aye' , 'magic, goat any fags?', 'fuck off i'm sleeping?' and so on....

Changi Airport in singapore is great, they hav a free cinema bit where you can watch movies in big comfy armchairs, slept there for about 7 hours once.

I didn't try or see it but i think they also have showers, outside gardeny bits and some sort of pool/hot tub, you can pay to go in.

Did Luton a couple of weeks ago - Big mistake, absolutely dire. Not only is the departures area a no chair zone, but they continue the "You may use credit cards at the parking pay stations" announcement every fucking 5 mins, all through the fucking night, when NO ONE'S FUCKING PARKING!

Vancouver was lovely though.

Changi Airport is great, thev've got everything including day rooms for $25, a gym, a pool, a huge number of shops, movie theaters... it's its own little world.

I slept in Amsterdam's central station once... the police came n woke us up at around 3am n told us to get out... lots of strange types n what looked like junkies everywhere!

why would you want to sleep there ?!

I spent a horrible night at Fez railway station once!

No money, no fags and no food :(

But my lovely man thought it was a great adventure and cheered me up :D

Do any UK airports frown on you kipping overnight if you have an early morning flight?

I have a 7am Glasgow to Ibiza flight coming up, so probably checking in from 4:30am. I don't want to drive to the airport. I have fam that stay near the airport, but I think they will be on holiday. I don't want to fork out for a hotel...

Staying over at the airport seems the best option. Should there be any issue with this?

I had a 6.30 flight out of Heathrow in May. There were people sleeping there when we arrived at 3.00
I guess every airport will have its own policy though.

No, security may ask for proof of ticket/boarding pass, after that you'll be left alone.

have read/heard that there are often chapels in airports that can facilitate a kip..bit of a subject in (google) fact.:

Yes, built for staff as they work 24/7/365 shifts, so if they need to do some religious shit at a certain time of day they had somewhere to go and do it. Also came in handy when aircraft failed to arrive, which was a lot more common in the 50's/60's/70's than it is today, thankfully.
