Skirt over Jeans - WTF!

Oh dear, I'm wearing a t-shirt under a dress, over trousers today :( It's not hot though, so maybe I'll be forgiven.

It's been creeping in and out for the past few years but hasn't exploded yet.

It will though, I'm a huge fan

Me too! Sparklefish used to wear skirts over jeans in the late nineties, it was very studenty and seems to have made a tentative step into the high street.

I wasnt a fan for myself until a few weeks ago. And to think I hesitated

...and a good many Asian men wear the dress over trousers combo and also look lovely :)

i think it started off with asian lasses tbh - about 5 years ago, they all started wearing skirt/trouser combos, and then everyone else did.

it means you can wear a nice mini without showing your legs to those lustful men. teenage girls can be very resourceful when they want to dress up a bit. :D

(bit off topic)

I have noticed alot of young Muslim girls wearing a hijab, which I thought was supposed to play down their sexuality, but combining this with skin tight black pants and a tight pink skirt on top. Which, to me at least, looks pretty sexual.

tee hee... well, they can say they're obeying the letter of the law, if not the spirit.

i refer you to my previous post... :)

<edit - @thefishdead btw>

Yeap. I think its a great example of our natural desires winning out over the religious bullshit.

I'd love to hear one of these girls opinion on the subject. I 'm sure alot of them want to look hot but at the same time are proud of wearing the hijab as a display of faith.

that's exactly what it is. also, if you look closely at the hijabs, they often have CK or DKNY or versace woven into the cloth... :D

human nature to want to look nice, ain't it?

Im wearing a white t-shirt under a red halter-neck dress as i type. What the fuck is wrong with that?? I also wear *shock horror* jeans under skirts and dresses.

Honestly, some people are sooo fucking closed minded when it comes to fashion. "Stick to the rules - one person can ONLY wear the fucking following combos at any one time: top + trousers, dress *only*, top + skirt." Oh please.

People wear what the fuck you want.

bet they feel hot in this weather as well

Why can't they be good muslims without wearing the hijab?

You're right, chickie chick.

I don't wear jeans, but I have been known to wear trousers, and a polo neck under a long dress. Looked alright

Mind you, that was winter.. now I'm wearing tshirts under short dresses, over a long skirt. I think that looks alright too

Fuck the fashionistas, man, wear what you like!

The Mexicans and a lot of latin americans have been wearing skirts over jeans for years, and I mean years, I lived in Mexico when I was little, in the 70s, and they wore them like that then.

I quite like the look when it's done well.

The true fashionistas, i believe, wear what the fuck they want anyways! Fuck, where i work, these people condemning trousers and skirts together would probably have a heart attack if they saw what some of these Japanese art and fashion students walk out their homes wearing. Good grief... 3 dresses each of clashing neon colours piled up on one another, plus trousers or footless tights, plus legwarmers, with flip-flops...

it's entertaining - in a good way. Fucking fashion nazis.

Oh, I love the way those Japanese girls dress. (I'm sure there's a name for them).

A few weeks ago I saw a whole busloads of Japanese kids get off a bus visiting Buckingham Palace.

The whole lot of them were dressed like that including the lads (well obviously the lads weren't wearing skirts and colourful socks and platform shoes but YKWIM) :D

I wanted to take a picture of them but they all looked like they had a right stroppy attitude. Twas like Battle Royale :D

The point is that you can wear relatively revealing frock without feeling like you're in a butcher's window if you wear trousers and a tshirt with it.

Likes silly I agree, but none of you lot wore massive fuck off shoulder pads in the 80's?

I certainly didn't, but nor do I wear pretty dresses and ick Ts or dresses and jeans, or those bloody smocks that I didn't even wear when I was pregnant.

Having said all that I have never really been a fashionable person :D
