Skins

I managed about 12 minutes of this episode and gave up.

Very poor. And I liked the idea of a new cast too.

I think you have to watch Hollyoaks with a certain amount of tongue in cheek. I enjoy it, but I also enjoy laughing at it.

They are blates taking the piss most of the time, the intros are becoming more and more elaborate.

They had the McQueens doing Oliver the musical the other day!

I thought it was a great episode - a good old fashioned love triangle with stacks of angst and betrayal. Well acted for once too.

Best line: "Don't you dare say cunt and Oxfam in the same sentence!"

Cook - bloody hate that character. Want to punch his face in. Gutted that he didn't get a full pasting. So all in all they've done a good job there of creating a nasty nick hate character.

Chanelling Dangerous Liasions to a great extent with Effie.

A bit disappointed by the overall premise last night that JJ could be normal if he just tried hard enough.

Em being the catlyst of have you tried being normal? Giving him a little treat out of charity cause he had tried.

The inference that doctors are not the answer. They'll not listen and just throw pills at you. Dangerous territory / message to be sending. Could disaude people with mental health problems from seeking the help they could need.

The idea that any company would call their pills STUN and that they would act as truth serum conveiniently at the most unconvient time

But still miles better than the first couple of episodes.

I think it's getting a lot better, although the last episode wasn't so good.

But the first two episodes I couldn't watch without screaming at my computer screen, whereas I really enjoyed 5, 6 and 7.

I can't believe they ruined skins. :(
There have been 2 or 3 episodes (the ones mentioned above) that were not a total embarrassment compared to the first series. But I was looking at the first episode of Series 1 (where they crash the house party and end up in a Merceded in the Avon). That was a different league.

I have to say, I do like the way that all the parents are so hilariously fucked up. Exactly what a lot of teenagers think of their parents

Last night's episode started off alright but spoilt it with the cliched wank at the end.

The only highlights -

The bloke playing the twins' Dad, he was brilliant - "If they're not still virgins by tomorrow, I'll hunt you down like dogs", all with a manic smile.

JJ / Freddy interactions - so much better without Cook stealing the focus.

Katie being manipulative as fuck and nearly getting away with it.

No Cook or Effie.

I thought that it was all a little too tidy. No unresolved issues at the end.
Everything was tied up neatly which means as a character Emily now has nothing left to bring to the table unless they invent something new.

Well i guess they can do the parents coming to terms with her sexuality but aside from that. Will JJ get the blame? :D

I think they handled the Emily and Naomi thing really well - it's played out over a number of weeks and has been well written and, at times, beautifully acted. They're totally believable as a couple as is the angst and confusion they've both gone through to get to that stage.

I haven't seen either of the first two series but I've really enjoyed this one while admitting that the quality can be extremely variable even within single episodes.

He's definitely my favourite non-core character this series, closely followed by Katie's Bristol Rovers Reserves boyfriend, who was superb.
