Six Nations 2009

Nearly ready to go!!

Ireland should really win tomorrow easily but it's Ireland and they are playing France. I like our 9-10-12 combo but worry about Heaslip at 8 and I'd like to see a big match from Donnacha O'Callaghan.

If the rest of the backbone - Flannery, POC and Kearney play well we should be looking to win easily against a Fench side who look to be there for the taking with Sebastien Tillous-Borde and Lionel Beuaxis playing 9 + 10.

It's a great time of the year, the start of the 6 nations, when it's OK for an ever-optimistic Paddy to be able to see nothing but a grand slam for the all conquering Irish!

i think leamy is better than heaslip

i think doc gives away too many penalties, mod is a rock (for 50mins) - just remeber his performance against the all blacks

playing paddy wallace at centre will be an interesting experiment, really hope it works

but the news is that kearney is out with an ankle strain

maybe geordan murphy will get a run out- heres hoping he's blowing hot for a change

Looks like we could be without Euan Murray & Hines for the Wales game which doesnt bode well.
Ah, feck :(

Games are all on in the middle of the night here, this thread will serve as my substitute for pub chat about the matches.

Wales
France
Ireland
Scotland ( ;) )
England
Italy.

A girl can dream, can't she?

ETA: Paterson on the bench? Against Wales? Really? Oh bollocks...

Mrs Orange Lego Head is out. On BBC website likes. He broke a nail or summat, hopeful to be back for the Lions tour.

I predict:

France
England
Wales
Ireland
Scotland
Italy

I hope for:

Wales - Slam - For:250 Against:0
Meh - don't care
Meh - don't care
Meh - don't care
Meh - don't care
Meh - don't care/anyone but Italy to mix things up :)

I can't get around the supposed favourite tag that Wales have... it's an odd feeling.

There is no way that England are gonna top wales in the table!

Out of interest, why do the Irish on this yur board believe that the Ireland that will sweep the 6N before them are any better than the mediocre dross that just managed to beat Argentina in the Autumn, and got slaughtered by the ABs?

Just asking, like.

Chavin's head has gone. This is sad, as it removes an enormous amount of creativity from our centre pairing. Henson is the attacking metronome of the Wales side, and without him we're not as good as we can be. Hope to fuck he'll be back for the rest of the series, but I fear that something is badly wrong.

Was looking for a handbag smilie.
Ah there it is up in the top left corner.

It's time. Gloves off. Mano a mano. Success-free golden generation versus Grandslam-dripping kings of the decade.

Back to back, back to back, back to back...........;)

Good win for the wee Jocks tonight. Don't know if you saw the match, but the gulf between age group rugby and the real thing is enormous. Still, some very impressive individual performances on display amidst the turgidity. Scottish forwards looked keen and physical - it's a good sign for rugby north of the border if the mini Sweaties can start to grind out some results.

Very disappointing from a Taffy pov, mind. Phil Davies' race to the bottom gathers pace.

Reckon Italy could get a result today. Fucking hope so.
& France to do Ireland.

Bish Bosh, Drunk Driving Proto Royal Mikey 'HRH' Tindall is out. Noon in. Looks like the Saes won't be breaking the gain line beyond 10, then.

With each step an Italian victory is looking more and more possible. Doubt it will happen, though.

aren't they streaming the matches on bbc?

Thought they were, but all I can find is the live text feed... dull.

Gutted if they dont.. I havent got a telly :(

I am quite excited now. It is the Wales Match tomorrow that I really want to see, but I will watch all today's games as well.

In other news: I hate Brian Moore.

What a shit game so far. Italy awful. England slightly less awful. Roll on tommorrow when hopefully we will see some better rugby being played. I was looking forward, as a neutral, to watch this game now, but good old England havent disspointed and played a boring game again. Any decent team playing against Italy at the moment should be out of sight. Bergamsco cant pass period and it hasnt exactly been punished so far. Having said that if England pull themselves together they can put a cricket score on in the second half.

ETA - Thank fuck Italy now have a scrum half on the pitch. shame its 40 minutes too late.
